The Kansas City Chiefs lost on primetime to the Jaguars last week, and they’ll look to bounce back and get to .500 with a win this week. They’ll be at home for Sunday Night Football, but they’ll need to put points on the board since they’re in a tough matchup against the 4-1 Detroit Lions. Both teams bring plenty of playmakers on offense, but one of the biggest names on the field will be Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. Let’s take a look at his top prop bets this week on Sunday Night Football.
The Chiefs are 2.5-point home favorites on DraftKings Sportsbook, with the point total boosted up to 51.5 points in what shapes up to be a high-scoring matchup. Below, I’ve detailed my favorite prop bets centered around Kelce.

Rather than just taking Kelce straight up to go above or below a specific number, I prefer playing him against Lions tight end Sam LaPorta. I detailed my top LaPorta prop for this matchup as well. Even though LaPorta does have big-play potential, he finished over 40 yards twice this season, while Kelce has at least 40 yards in four of five games.
The Chiefs have been very good against tight ends, only allowing one tight end to get more than 30 yards all year. The Lions, on the other hand, have given up an average of 46.2 yards per game to the position. Mark Andrews had 91 yards against the Lions, followed by 30 yards against the Chiefs the next week.
Kelce also consistently gets more passes thrown his way. He has at least four catches in each of the last four weeks with at least 48 yards in three of those four matchups.
If the matchup gets lopsided, this head-to-head prop could be decided by which team has to throw the ball more. The Lions could get out to a big lead early, forcing even more work to go to Kelce.
At home in Kansas City, Kelce is always a popular play and gets plenty of attention from the fans and, more importantly, from Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes will likely pepper him with targets early and often against the Lions, and I think he’ll outproduce his counterpart during Sunday Night Football.
