Stanford Cardinal vs. Virginia Cavaliers prediction, picks CFB Week 4

Round of applause for Stanford. After starting the season looking like arguably the worst Power Four team in football, the Cardinal upset Boston College as roughly a two touchdown underdog. It took some flukey plays and some big mistakes by the Eagles, but Stanford is in the win column. The sweat is back on for my top win total bet this season — Stanford U3.5.

However, I don’t think Stanford will be making me sweat this week. It’s a down spot to begin with coming off the big win, and now the Cardinal have to travel cross country for an ACC game at Virginia. UVA hasn’t overly impressed me, but you don’t need to in order to blow Stanford out. The Cavaliers went down to the wire with NC State on the road in their only loss, and have blown doors in a pair of home games against Coastal Carolina and William and Mary. Not exactly elite competition, but again, Stanford is a very bad team.

The Cardinal have had tons of issues in the passing game, and should struggle to put up points against a much better team out on the east coast. Virginia has shown a balanced attack through the air and on the ground, and are good enough to run away with this one at home. Again, this isn’t as much playing on UVA, it’s just trusting them not to blow it. This is a full fade Stanford spot if you’re betting the game. I’m yet to get the bet in myself, but if I do, it’s Virginia or pass.

CFB Picks: Virginia -16 (-110)
