We’re already a quarter of the way through the college football season, as Week 4 is upon us. This article will be the home for all of my plays in Week 4, but our team at DK Network will have breakdowns on nearly every game on the board. Here are my bets for Week 4, which I’ll add to throughout the week, along with the spark notes of the handicap.
Iowa ML (-125) 1-unit (Friday): Iowa heads to New Jersey on Friday night for a big road game for the Hawkeyes in Big Ten play. While The Scarlett Knights held up in their Friday night game last year hosting Washington, they were extremely fortunate to win that game. I don’t think Iowa will be as sloppy as the Huskies were, and their tough defense should travel well. The Hawkeyes’ stout defense will be important in this one, as Rutgers have proven it has a bit of pop offensively. However, the solid Rutgers defense from last season is nowhere to be found — see the 31 points given up to Ohio in the opener. I’m expecting the Hawkeyes to be able to move the ball well in this one, and provide enough resistance on the other side of the ball.
Clemson -16.5 (-110) 1-unit: The sky is falling for the Tigers with their 1-2 start, essentially needing perfection to have a chance at the College Football Playoff. No doubt, Clemson has been a disappointment this season, but I’m going back to the well here in Week 4. Clemson has lost to good teams, and Syracuse is not that. This is a spot where the Tigers can let out some frustration, and run up the score after a frustrating loss. Clemson will be returning three starters that have missed the past two games, which should help them here. The Orange have been nonexistent on the defensive side of the ball this season, and I’m fully expecting Dabo Swinney to run this one up.
Arkansas vs. Memphis – 2-units: I gave this one out early in the week on the DKN Daily Bets podcast on DraftKings Network. You can go listen it there.

Oklahoma Halftime/Fulltime (-120) 1-unit: This is how I bet the Sooners in a big primetime matchup at home against Michigan, and I’m going back to the same angle on this game. Overall, I feel this is a pretty similar matchup to Michigan for Oklahoma, with the major difference being that Auburn isn’t rolling out a freshman quarterback — it’ll be former Sooner, Jackson Arnold, under center. That said, the Sooners have the nation’s top pass defense, and Arnold is not an elite passer. Yes, Arnold may hurt his former team with his legs at times, but if the Tigers wind up playing from behind, it’s tough to see Arnold throwing them back into the game. Meanwhile, we saw Baylor shred Auburn through the air, and while the Bears have an elite offense, I think the Sooners should be able to find some of that success too. Look for OU to get out in front early and keep it that way.
