Arkansas Razorbacks vs. Memphis Tigers prediction, picks CFB Week 4

This sets up as a terrific spot play for a Memphis Tigers squad that could be live to spring the upset over Arkansas at home. The Tigers are 3-0 on the young season, but admittedly have not been tested yet on the schedule. That said, Memphis has won each game by at least three touchdowns, including last week in a road game at Troy in which the home dog took a lot of incorrect money.

What I like about Memphis is that is has an explosive offense, led by dual-threat quarterback Brendon Lewis. What I like even more about Memphis is that the defense has been tremendous at adapting. The Tigers have changed game plans all season based upon their opponent, and clearly it worked well against Troy. While I’m terrified of Taylen Green and the Hogs’ offense, Memphis should have something good schemed up here.

But what I love about this game is the spot. It works for Memphis in the sense of it being the first big test, at home with a noon kickoff on national television. The Tigers will be up for this spot. Arkansas better be careful if it isn’t ready to go. The Hogs went on the road in the SEC last week and lost a shootout to Ole Miss by a score of 41-35, and that was with the Rebs playing with their backup quarterback.

Next week, Arkansas has by far its home game of the season, hosting Notre Dame. Even with the Irish starting slow, the Razorbacks have had this one circled. But they better be careful between these two big games, as Memphis is a worthy opponent, and catches Arkansas on the road for a second consecutive week. The AAC is looking more and more like a league that could potentially land the Group of Five Playoff spot, and the Tigers are live to win it. No better way to make a playoff push as a G5 team than to get a home win over the SEC. Look for Memphis to put a scare into Arkansas at the very least.

CFB Pick: Memphis +7.5 (-115)
