Well, this one is for all the marbles. On the last day of the WNBA regular season, the Golden State Valkyries play to decide if they’re the sixth seed or the eighth seed. If they lose, they will face a matchup with the league’s best team, the Minnesota Lynx. And who do they have to play to decide this? Those same Lynx. Feels appropriate, no?
The Lynx are 6.5-point favorites at home and hold -310 odds on the moneyline at DraftKings Sportsbook. The Valkyries, as road underdogs, are +250 on the moneyline. The total is set at 153.5 points. Letโs take a look at the best bets and predictions for this LynxโValkyries matchup.
Lynx vs. Valkyries prediction, pick
Playing the Minnesota Lynx has not gone well for the Valkyries this season. Then again, it hasn’t gone well for anyone. Golden State is 0-3 on the year against the top seed in the WNBA and would be up a creek in the playoffs if they cannot win this game. To say their season is on the line in this game would not be an exaggeration.
They may be getting some help from the injury report. DiJonai Carrington has already been ruled out with a shoulder injury, and with nothing to play for, the Lynx may opt to rest more players. Minnesota opted to rest superstar forward Napheesa Collier in their last game, an 11-point loss to the Indiana Fever. If they opt to take a similar route, it may spell trouble for the Lynx; not that they care.
The Golden State Valkyries have all the motivation to win this one. The Lynx just want to make it through healthy. And perhaps with some gamesmanship involved, they won’t mind playing a disjointed Seattle Storm team over the scrappy, well-coached Valks. Before the injury report and possible rests drop, I’m getting in on the Valkyries moneyline.
