If you walk around on a nice day and tilt your head up, you’ll see a couple of things: the sun and the sky. One assumes those two are natural allies and friends, but not in the WNBA. This Wednesday, the Chicago Sky and the Connecticut Sun will do battle.
The Sky are 1.5-point favorites at home and hold -122 odds on the moneyline on DraftKings Sportsbook. The total is set at 162 points. Let’s examine the best bets and predictions for this SunโSky matchup.
Sun vs. Sky prediction, pick
The Sun and Sky have a couple of things in common: they haven’t had fun years, and are in the running for the worst record in the WNBA this season. Perhaps their most frustrating similarity is that neither team has control of their own first-round pick.
Chicago’s pick, currently second-best in odds for the #1 selection, will be going to the Minnesota Lynx, as if they needed any more help. The Sun will be sending its pick to the Sky, funny enough. That decision is a tad more excusable since the pick was traded before all but two Sun players left this past offseason, and that pick is locked into #5 in the lottery odds. Still, it’s tough not to be rewarded appropriately for the misery they endured this year.
Still, both teams have reasons to hope. Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso both took strides this season, showing signs that they can coexist. The Sun has managed to win five of its last nine contests and has figured out a solid formula down the stretch. Breakout lead guard Leila Lacan moving to the starting lineup has injected life into this team.
Though the records may trick you, the Sun have been playing superior ball over the past few weeks. As road dogs, they bring the value here.
