Kelsey Plum and the Los Angeles Sparks will close down tonight’s five-game WNBA slate in a matchup against the Seattle Storm. This will be the second matchup of the season between these two teams, with the Storm producing a convincing 98-67 victory in the previous game. However, it should be noted that Plum missed this game due to a lower leg issue.
The Sparks sit in 10th place in the WNBA standings with an 11-15 record on the year. But they enter this game having won five of their last six and received a boost from Cameron Brink making her return from an ACL tear in the previous game. In contrast, the Storm holds a 16-11 record, which puts them in fourth place in the standings. However, they have had some recent struggles, which include dropping four of their past eight games to some inferior opponents.
Looking at tonight’s odds, Seattle enters as five-point favorites and holds -218 odds on the moneyline on DraftKings Sportsbook. Los Angeles holds +180 odds of getting the outright victory with the game total set at 169.5.

While plenty of attention will be paid to Cameron Brink’s return, it should be made clear that Plum will remain the leader of the Sparks’ offense. This is especially the case as Brink plays herself back up to game speed with the 14 minutes she logged in her first game. Los Angeles traded for Plum to be its offensive leader this offseason, and this will continue even when the team is at full strength. The Sparks’ defensive issues will be an area where Brink will make her mark felt a bit more.
So far this season, Plum is averaging 20.2 points per game while adding 6.0 assists and 3.2 rebounds. The standard point prop for the four-time All-Star is set at 18.5 on DraftKings Sportbook for the matchup. While I like this number as well, pushing it to +110 odds for her to clear the 20-point threshold feels totally within reach.
Plum has tallied 20+ points in 15 of the 25 games this season. This includes three consecutive games entering tonight and five of her past six matchups. Look for her to benefit from the attention Brink will command when she is on the floor and find shots a bit easier to generate. Seattle has a strong overall defense, but I am backing Plum’s hot streak to continue and for her to tally 20+ points for the fourth straight game.

A 0-for-6 perimeter shooting performance from Plum in the previous game snapped a seven-game streak of recording over 2.5 made three-pointers. Overall, the two-time champion is shooting 36.4% from beyond the three-point arc on 6.9 perimeter shots per game. This is slightly below the 38.7% three-point percentage Plum averages across her career, and she has made over 2.5 three-pointers in 15 of the 25 games this season.
Seattle has a strong overall defense that allows the second-fewest points per game and ranks second in defensive rating. It is holding opponents to the fifth-worst three-point percentage and the second-fewest perimeter shots per game. Los Angeles shot 6-for-22 from beyond the three-point arc in its first battle with Seattle without Plum on the floor. However, the Storm have had some defensive concerns of note in recent games. Connecticut’s Jacy Sheldon made three three-pointers against them in the previous game, and both Dallas’ Arike Ogunbowale and Luisa Geiselsoder cleared this total against them last week.
Plum will command a three-point rate well above any of the names mentioned above. She has attempted at least six three-pointers in 10 of her past 13 games and is shooting 46.0% from beyond the arc across her past eight games played. Expect a bounce-back shooting performance from her struggles in the previous matchup, and continue firing with this type of volume. Los Angeles has played some encouraging basketball of late, with Plum at the center of it. Count on her recording over 2.5 made three-pointers for the eighth time in her past nine games, and for tonight’s matchup to have a bit of a different outlook than the blowout that occurred without her on the floor.
