The WNBA All-Star break is over. For one weekend during the season, every player gets to just be friends and have a good time. Now it’s back to the grind of the season and the race for playoff spots. The trade deadline is only two weeks away, and decisions have to be made. With that in mind, let’s take a look at the field for the 2025 WNBA Championship. These are the odds as they stand on the DraftKings Sportsbook:

Breaking Down The Field

It’s no surprise that the New York Liberty and the Minnesota Lynx are clear favorites. Last year’s finalists have been the two best teams in their respective conferences. Minnesota is running away with the top seed in the WNBA, but New York would be right there if Jonquel Jones were healthy. Lucky for the Liberty, Jones is expected to return on Tuesday. If their defensive anchor can stay in the lineup, the two squads may be on a collision course for another Finals.

But don’t count out the next tier of contenders. The Phoenix Mercury, when healthy, boasts elite star talent and a top-tier defense. The Alyssa Thomas-Satou Sabally-Kahleah Copper trio can hack it with the best of them. They have a strong cast of role players with experienced coaching. I’m also patiently holding stock in the Seattle Storm. With an elite defense and a half-court offense anchored by Nneka Ogwumike and Skylar Diggins, they’re built for the playoffs. Their odds are very enticing.

I do think are Fever is fool’s gold. First and foremost, Caitlin Clark’s injury concerns aren’t going anywhere. Suffering multiple leg injuries in the first half of the season is cause for concern. And even when she’s on the floor, I don’t see them as an outer circle contender. Clark isn’t the kind of star who can overcome Indiana having good, but not great, ancillary talent.

Don’t make the mistake of thinking this is a two-horse race. It’s going to be an excellent race to the finish, and more than one surprise will go down come playoff time. This 2025 WNBA Championship may go down in history as one of the best races.
