After Thursday’s first round of the U.S. Open, J.J. Spaun ($6,700; 92.5 FPTS) was atop the leaderboard and +1200 to win it all on DraftKings Sportsbook. Heading into the weekend, he was in second place by one stroke and +700 to win it all.
Sunday did not begin so pleasantly for Spaun, as he bogeyed the first three holes of the round. He followed that up with two more a few holes later. On the back nine, he got back two strokes after three birdies and a bogey before walking it off with a 65-foot putt.
Spaun finished Sunday +2 (72) and -1 for the tournament.
In the $3M Fantasy Golf Millionaire tournament, Spaun was rostered on only 3.19% of teams.
Robert MacIntyre ($6,700; 80 FPTS) made things interesting, as he and Spaun were tied heading into the final hole.
Like Spaun, MacIntyre had a rough start to Sunday, but he only racked up three bogeys and drained an eagle and a birdie on the front nine. He then notched two more birdies on the back nine to finish the day -2 (68).
MacIntyre was rostered on 6.47% of teams.
The most rostered golfer was Scottie Scheffler ($14,400; 64 FPTS) at 37.44%. Bryson DeChambeau ($11,000; 16 FPTS) was right behind at 36.84%.
Scheffler finished Thursday +3 (73). He improved by two strokes on Friday and was +4 for the tournament and T23 heading into the weekend.
DK Sportsbook had Scheffler at +650 to win it all, the second-lowest odds, and -190 to finish top-10 after Thursday. He was +800 to win it all, the fourth-lowest odds, and -225 to finish top-10 heading into the weekend.
For the tournament, Scheffler finished +4 and T8 after he went even-par (70) on both Saturday and Sunday. On the front nine on Sunday, Scheffler racked up a double-bogey and two birdies. On the back nine, he had two bogeys and two birdies.
DeChambeau finished Thursday +3 (73). On Friday, he finished +7 (77) and missed the cut.
Jon Rahm ($10,200; 62.5 FPTS) was rostered on 25.67% of teams, the third-most. He was the favorite to win it all at +550 on DK Sportsbook and -225 to finish top-10 after Thursday. He was +220 to win it all, the seventh-lowest odds, and +115 to finish top-10 after Friday.
Rahm went +3 (73) on Saturday then went -3 (67) on Sunday to finish +4 and T7 for the tournament. On Sunday, Rahm had a birdie and a bogey on the front nine. On the back nine, he had a three-birdie streak on the final three holes of the round.
