The 157th Belmont Stakes are here as the third leg of the Triple Crown runs at 7:04 p.m. EST this evening. The iconic race takes place at a different venue for the second straight year due to renovations at Belmont Park but still holds every bit of hype and intrigue as always.

In this evening’s race, the field of eight includes Kentucky Derby winner Sovereignty and Preakness Stakes winner Journalism. While Sovereignty skipped out on the Preakness back in May, today’s festivities make for an interesting clash between two highly-touted competitors at the top of the sport.

2025 Belmont Stakes winner

Sovereignty battled with Journalism but ultimately emerged across the final stretch to take the victory in the 157th Belmont Stakes.

Sovereignty entered with 2-to-1 odds on the morning line. The horse’s jockey is Junior Alvarado and the trainer is William I. Mott.
