The Mets’ offense is sputtering, averaging just 1.6 runs per game over their last five, and they’ve failed to score more than three runs in four of those contests. Add in Tylor Megill’s recent struggles—12 earned runs in his last three starts—and it’s clear that the Mets’ offense is no match for the Red Sox’s hot starter.
Crochet (4-3, 2.00 ERA) has been absolutely dominant this season. His 10.4 K/9 rate and .200 opponent batting average against righties make him a nightmare for a Mets team that struggles against left-handed pitchers. Over his last four starts, Crochet has posted a 2.08 ERA and hasn’t allowed more than two earned runs in any of those outings. His 2.80 FIP suggests he’s been even better than his already impressive ERA shows.

Francisco Lindor has struggled with a .223/.285/.378 slash line against lefties, contributing to New York’s inconsistency against southpaws.
