After Thursday’s first round of the Truist Championship, the field is looking up at Keith Mitchell ($7,400; 67.5 FPTS), who shot a 9-under round (61) and leads by one stroke.
Mitchell started the day on the 10th hole, and it was an unblemished round with three birdies on the front nine and six on the back nine, which included a four-birdie streak on Holes 5, 6, 7 and 8.
In the $750K Sand Trap tournament, Mitchell is rostered on 9.49% of teams.
DK Sportsbook has Mitchell at +800 to win it all, the third-lowest odds.
The current favorite is Collin Morikawa ($10,500; 47.5 FPTS) at +600. Morikawa shot a 7-under (63) and is only two strokes back of Mitchell.
Morikawa also had an unblemished round. The only difference is that he did his work on the front nine instead of the back nine, but both Mitchell and Morikawa had success on Holes 1 through 9. Morikawa racked up five birdies on the front nine and two on the back nine.
Morikawa is rostered on 18.92% of teams.
The most rostered golfer is Rory McIlroy ($12,000; 26 FPTS) at 34.59%.
McIlroy had a clean front nine with three birdies. He ran into some trouble on the back nine, though. He birdied the first hole, but then gave it right back with a bogey on the next one. Three holes later, he replicated the feat. He closed out the round with a birdie on Hole 17. He finished the round 4-under (66) and is five strokes back of the lead.
McIlroy has the second-lowest odds to win it all at +750.
There are two other golfers rostered on at least 20% of teams:
Justin Thomas ($10,000; 24.5 FPTS) at 24.42%. Like McIlroy, Thomas finished the first round -4 (66). He had four birdies on the front nine with a bogey and birdie on the back nine. He is +2500 to win it all.
Xander Schauffele ($10,200; 20 FPTS) at 20.54%. Xander went -3 (67) on Thursday with a bogey and birdie on the front nine. On the back nine, he drained three birdies. Xander is +3500 to win it all.
Here are the golfers rostered on at least 10% of teams that had a rough first day:
Justin Rose ($7,600; 13.5 FPTS) is rostered on 10.25% of teams. He shot an even par 70 on Thursday and is nine strokes off the lead. The day began well with two straight birdies, but he finished the front nine with three bogeys. On the back nine, he was only able to get back one stroke with a single birdie.
Jordan Spieth ($9,200; 13.5 FPTS) is rostered on 14.46% of teams. He also shot an even par 70. Spieth bogeyed the first holes on the front and back nines. He added another bogey on the back nine, but finished the day with three birdies in the final five holes.
