All 30 MLB teams are in action on Sunday, with a doubleheader in St. Louis stacking 16 games on a full day of action. In this post, we’ll look at my favorite starting pitcher prop bets from the late afternoon and evening, including plays from MacKenzie Gore, Dustin May and Reese Olson.

Here is a look at my top starting pitcher prop bets for this Sunday night.
Best Starting Pitcher Prop Bets on DraftKings Sportsbook
MacKenzie Gore over 6.5 strikeouts (-120)
Gore and the Nationals take on the Reds at 4:10 p.m. ET at Great American Ball Park. The Nationals lost the first game of the series but bounced back with an 11-6 win on Saturday. The 26-year-old lefty can help his team get a series win on Sunday afternoon, and he has been a true ace for the Nationals so far this season.
Gore has a 3.51 ERA, 2.50 FIP, and 1.10 WHIP in his seven starts this season, with five quality starts in those seven outings. Even more impressively, though, he has racked up 59 strikeouts in 41 innings for an impressive 12.95 K/9 rate.
He had six strikeouts in six innings during his last outing against the Phillies, but he went over this line in four straight starts before that and in five of his seven starts this season.
After coming just under 6.5 strikeouts in his last outing, he should be able to bounce back against the Reds. Cincinnati has a 21.3% K% at home, averaging 7.7 strikeouts per game at home. Since Gore’s K% is so much higher than the average, he should be able to get over 6.5 strikeouts in this outing on Sunday afternoon in Cincy.
Dustin May over 16.5 outs recorded (-130)
May and the Dodgers are in the Sunday Night Baseball spotlight as they take on the Braves in Atlanta. May faced the Braves in his first start of the season, getting 15 outs by throwing 81 pitches in a game the Dodgers won, 3-1.
Since then, May has gone over this line (at least 5 2/3 innings) in two of his four starts since then. He went six innings against the Nats and Rockies, while coming up just short with just five innings against the Cubs and 5 1/3 against the Marlins in his last outing. He has thrown 80+ pitches in each of his five starts. In four of his five innings, May issued three walks, but has still been able to work deep enough to be right around this line in every outing.
The Braves’ offense has been a little better than early in the season, but they have only been able to get five total runs in their last three games. In this series, Yoshinobu Yamamoto went six shutout innings on Friday, and Roki Sasaki went five innings on Saturday. The Dodgers will hope to get over 5 1/3 from May to get them deeper into the bullpen on Sunday night, and based on his trends and the Braves’ struggle to score runs, the over on May’s outs is one of my top starting pitcher prop bets for Sunday.
Reese Olson 7+ Strikeouts (+130)
In the last of my three starting pitcher prop bets on Sunday, I’m taking Olson to get at least seven strikeouts for a third straight start as the Tigers look to close out their four-game set in Anaheim with a win.
Olson is 3-2 in his six starts, with a 3.55 ERA, 2.97 FIP, and 32 strikeouts in 33 innings. Olson has at least five strikeouts in five of his six starts and has seven strikeouts in each of his last two outings. He struck out seven in 7 1/3 innings against the Padres and followed that with seven strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings against the Astros in his most recent outing.
That most recent outing was on the road in Houston in a tough matchup, but Olson induced an outstanding 18 whiffs. The 25-year-old righty has outstanding stuff and has shown improved control.

I got burned by taking Jack Flaherty to record the win in yesterday’s starting pitcher prop bets, but I’m back to attack the same matchup in a different way Sunday night. The Angels have the highest K% of any team over the past two weeks. They have a 29.2% K% while the second-highest K% over that pan is just 25.5%. With such a high strikeout rate, I’m willing to not only take the over on Olson’s 5.5 strikeouts (-130) but to pick him to get the one more strikeout he needs to make this a plus-money pick on Sunday afternoon.
