First and foremost, the Avalanche are seeking revenge against the Stars after being eliminated by Dallas in the second round of the 2020 and 2024 playoffs. They also recently welcomed back their captain, Gabriel Landeskog, who had missed three straight seasons before returning in these playoffs.
On the Stars side, the former Stanley Cup favorites are scrapping to survive. Injuries to star skaters Miro Heiskanen and Jason Robertson down the stretch put a damper on an excellent season. Still, they have an exceptional team, now led by former Avs legend Mikko Rantanen. The former Cup winner with Colorado has scored eight points in the first six games of the series and will look for some revenge tonight.
