Shedeur Sanders has been a name every Draft analyst has been talking about since his season ended at Colorado. But is he in for a long night in the Green Room? NFL Draft expert Todd McShay joined Ross Tucker on the latest Ross Tucker Football Podcast to discuss that and more.
On Monday, DraftKings Sportsbook noted that Sanders is currently favored to go to the Saints at No. 9 overall.

Todd says he likes Shedeur off the field and the way he carries himself, saying he’s ready for everything that will come. The nature of the business is that as Coach Prime’s son, he’s everywhere in the media and everyone is intrigued. At the end of the day, Todd says he is a really good football player … who does not have an ELITE physical trait. He doesn’t have a rifle for an arm, he isn’t the biggest guy. But what he does have, which translates really well to the NFL, is that Todd thinks he is the fastest processor among the QBs in this class. Todd thinks he’s the best natural passer and a bit of a throwback pocket passing QB who has a little bit of magic in him to extend plays. Todd says those guys tend to be talked about in the later first or early second-round range, which is the grade a lot of people in the league that Todd has talked to have on Shedeur.
Todd thinks there is a way for Shedeur to succeed, win games and play really well in the NFL, but he wants to see him wind up in the right system. It’s not necessarily about development time, as Todd says he’s as ready as anyone. He’s almost certain Shedeur won’t be the pick at No. 2, which is unfortunate, as Todd believes Kevin Stefanski would be the PERFECT guy to develop him. Todd thinks it could be a long, uncomfortable night for Shedeur, as he doesn’t think he’ll be among the top three picks. But there’s always a chance a team moves up to get him, and if there isn’t, No. 9 to the Saints is perhaps the spot people are beginning to identify as where he come off the board.
Earlier in their discussion, Todd also shared his thoughts on Shedeur’s teammate at Colorado, Travis Hunter. Everyone is talking about Hunter being a unicorn, an elite player on both sides of the ball that we haven’t seen the likes of since his college coach Deion Sanders. But, Todd says he thinks that Hunter is more ready at a higher level right now to make an impact on the offensive side of the ball. And he asks, looking at the teams who could be selecting Hunter — the Browns at 2, the Giants at 3 or the Patriots at 4 — wouldn’t it be more advantageous for those clubs to get the most out of him at wide receiver? So, he thinks it will be fascinating to see how Hunter’s unique skills are maximized at the next level.
Outside of the Colorado stars, Todd also talked about how he thinks this is the most talented running back class we’ve ever seen from top to bottom. Over at DraftKings Sportsbook, you can make your pick on how many RBs you see coming off the board in the first round.

Todd says everyone knows about Boise State standout Ashton Jeanty, who could go the Raiders at No. 6 or the Bears at No. 10. But he also points out that Omarion Hampton is another first-rounder, with TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins in the 32-45 range as well. He brought up the 2017 running back class, which saw 30 backs drafted, and said this 2025 class will have about the same number of guys drafted, but with them coming off the board a lot earlier.
