MLB Prop Bets for April 4, 2025
Justin Verlander under 17.5 outs recorded -120
Going at least six innings feels like a stretch for Verlander. At this stage of his career, seeing him go five innings is likely a win for the Giants. The 42-year-old made 17 starts last season and only went at least six innings in six of them. Verlander isn’t the strikeout guy he once was either, as the last two seasons have seen him average under a strikeout per inning and also seeing an uptick in flyballs allowed. The Mariners are a good hitting club against fastballs, and today’s expected lineup has a .349 wOBA with a .193 ISO between last year and this year. They also have a lot of lefties in the lineup, which was a sore spot for Verlander last season. They tagged him for a .323 wOBA with 10 of the 15 home runs he allowed and a 5.22 FIP. I think he goes under 17.5 outs today.

Marcell Ozuna over 1.5 bases +105
The entire Braves offense is off to a really slow start, but I like the matchup for Ozuna tonight. He’ll be facing Marlins starter Max Meyer, who has struggled in his appearances in the majors. Through 14 starts, he has a 5.50 ERA with a 5.73 FIP, a 7.7 K/9, and a 2.2 HR/9. His two main pitches, a slider and a fastball, are pitches that Ozuna handles very well. Against the slider, Ozuna had a .404 wOBA with a .291 ISO. Against the fastball, we’re talking a .456 wOBA with a .298 ISO. This Braves offense is going to come alive soon (at least I hope), and Ozuna should be a major part of that. Why can’t today be that day?

Jose Soriano under 4.5 strikeouts +100
Soriano throws sinkers, a lot. Last season, he did so around 46% of the time. Granted, it was only one start in 2025, but he threw it 64% of the time. If this is the case, I like him to go under his strikeout prop of 4.5 tonight against the Guardians. This isn’t a team that’ll provide a lot of strikeout potential on a day-to-day basis. Thus far, tonight’s expected lineup has a 23.2% K% on the season. Quite frankly, it’s been two guys dragging down that total, as Nolan Jones is at 31% and Bo Naylor is at 58%. Other than that, everyone else is under 20%. Soriano, inducing a lot of contact and ground balls, should keep his strikeout total down. He landed on five strikeouts in his first start, but that was also against the White Sox. A more polished team like the Guardians could keep his strikeout numbers at bay.
