Here are the golfers rostered on at least 10% of teams in the $750K Sand Trap tournament that didn’t make the cut of +2 for the Valspar Championship:
Jake Knapp ($8,100; 18.5 FPTS) was rostered on 13.17% of teams. He shot a 74 on Thursday. On Friday, he double-bogeyed the second hole, but finished the front nine with three birdies. It all fell apart on the back nine, though, as he once again double-bogeyed the second hole then racked up four more bogeys to miss the cut by seven strokes.
Kurt Kitayama ($7,600; 7.5 FPTS) is rostered on 12.05% of teams. His tournament was essentially over after the 80 he shot on Thursday. Friday’s round was significantly better, as he shot 70, but the damage was done. Kitayama birdied the first and last holes of the front nine, but had two bogeys and a birdie in between. On the back nine, he birdied the first hole, but had a birdie and a bogey to finish the round. Kitayama missed the cut by six strokes.
Christiaan Bezuidenhout ($7,600; 17.5 FPTS) is rostered on 14.59% of teams, the 10th-most. He went three-over on Thursday. On Friday, Bezuidenhout had a double-bogey on the front nine while making par the other eight holes. He birdied the first hole of the back nine, but had a three-bogey streak on Holes 3, 4 and 5. He ended the round four-over and missed the cut by five strokes.
Nicolai Hojgaard ($7,300; 25.5 FPTS) is rostered on 11.85% of teams. He shot 70 on Thursday. Things began ominously with a bogey on the first hole. He bounced back with a birdie four holes later, but ended the front nine with a double-bogey. Hojgaard birdied the first hole of the back nine, but then notched two bogeys and a double-bogey to finish the day five over, missing the cut by two strokes.
Rico Hoey ($7,000; 20.5 FPTS) is rostered on 13.07% of teams. He shot a 72 on Thursday. On the front nine on Friday, Hoey had a birdie and a double-bogey. After draining a birdie on the first hole of the back nine, Hoey bogeyed four holes later and finished the round with two more on the final holes. He finished the round three-over and missed the cut by two strokes.
Sam Burns ($9,800; 28.5 FPTS) is rostered on 13.43% of teams. He shot a 72 on Thursday. Friday’s round started off well with a birdie on the first hole. He then went bogey, birdie before racking up two bogeys on the final holes of the front nine. The back nine was filled with excitement, as he was status quo for only one hole. Burns racked up three birdies and four bogeys to finish the day two ovrr. He missed the cut by one stroke.
There were five golfers tied for the lead after Thursday’s first round. There is only one after Friday.
Jacob Bridgeman ($7,400; 57.5 FPTS) did not have a good start to the tournament, bogeying the first two holes. He bounced back with three birdies before notching another bogey to close out the front nine. On the back nine, Bridgeman eagled the first hole, gave one back with a bogey two holes later, but then closed out the round with three birdies. In the $750K Sand Trap tournament, Bridgeman is rostered on 15.77% of teams, the seventh-highest number.
On Friday, Bridgeman birdied the first hole but racked up two bogeys and a birdie on the front nine. On the back nine, he drained on eagle on the second hole, followed that up with a birdie three holes later before racking up a bogey on the final hole of the day. Bridgeman finished Friday two-under and is six-under for the tournament, one stroke on top of the field.
DK Sportsbook has Bridgeman at +600 to win it all, the second-lowest odds.
The current favorite is Xander Schauffele ($10,500; 49.5 FPTS) at +500. Schauffele is rostered on 17.68% of teams. He shot a 70 on Thursday then followed that up with a 68 on Friday. He is two strokes back of Bridgeman. Schauffele’s Friday started off well with a birdie on the first hole. He then finished the front nine with two birdies and a bogey. On the back nine, he racked up two birdies and a bogey.
