The first round of THE PLAYERS Championship was suspended due to darkness. Eight golfers were unable to finish their rounds, but all had two holes or less to go. Here’s how the current leaderboard looks after Thursday’s action:
There are three golfers tied for the lead at six-under-par.
Lucas Glover ($6,800; 61.5 FPTS) had four birdies and a bogey on the front nine, then had a birdie and two bogeys to start the back nine. He finished the day strong, though, with a four-birdie streak on Holes 15, 16, 17 and 18.
J.J. Spaun ($6,700; 57 FPTS) had an unblemished round with three birdies on both the front and back nines.
Camilo Villegas ($5,000; 60 FPTS) had five birdies on the front nine, which included a three-birdie streak on Holes 11, 12 and 13. The back nine had two bogeys sandwiched around three birdies.
In the $2.25M Fantasy Golf Millionaire tournament, Glover is rostered on 2.64% of teams, Spaun is on 5.42% and Villegas is on only 0.05%.
DK Sportsbook has Glover at +2000 to win it all, the fifth-lowest odds. Spaun is at +1800, the fourth-lowest while Villegas is +6500.
Scottie Scheffler ($12,800; 23 FPTS) is the current favorite at +400. He shot a three-under 69 on Thursday and is three strokes off the lead. Scheffler is the most-rostered golfer at 37.25%.
Rory McIlroy ($11,500; 43.5 FPTS) is right there with Scheffler at +450. He shot a five-under 67 and is only a stroke behind the leaders. McIlroy is rostered on 14.11% of teams.
Max McGreevy ($6,600; 38 FPTS) was one of the golfers unable to finish his first round. He got through 16 holes and is currently five under, one stroke off the lead. McGreevy is rostered on only 1.4% of teams and is +4000 to win it all.
At the moment, the cut line appears to be either one-under or two-under depending on Friday’s conditions. Here are some highly-rostered golfers at or below:
Ludvig Aberg ($10,200; 21 FPTS) is rostered on 25.24% of teams. There are five golfers rostered on more than 20% of teams. Aberg had three birdies and two double-bogeys on the front nine. On the back nine, he racked up three birdies and a bogey to finish the day -1.
Tommy Fleetwood ($9,800; 17 FPTS) is rostered on 17.4% of teams. He had three birdies and a bogey on the front nine, then finished the round with a birdie and two bogeys on the back nine.
Corey Conners ($7,900; 17 FPTS) is rostered on 19.07% of teams. He opened and closed the day with a bogey. In between, Conners racked up four birdies and a bogey.
Russell Henley ($9,500; 13.5 FPTS) is rostered on 14.19% of teams. He had two birdies and a bogey on the front nine, then a birdie and two bogeys on the back nine.
Shane Lowry ($9,100; 13.5 FPTS) is rostered on 15.06% of teams. Lowry had a birdie and two bogeys on the front nine, then racked up two birdies and a bogey on the back nine.
Hideki Matsuyama ($9,900; 15 FPTS) is rostered on 17% of teams. The front nine was brutal for Matsuyama, as he racked up a double-bogey on the second hole, then followed that up with four bogeys and a birdie. The back nine was better with four birdies and a bogey, but the damage was already done.
Michael Kim ($5,900; 12 FPTS) is rostered on 23.24% of teams. He shot a three-over 75 on Thursday. Kim racked up two birdies and four bogeys on the front nine. The back nine started off promising, with two birdies, but Kim bogeyed the next three holes.
Justin Thomas ($10,100; 11.5 FPTS) is rostered on 17.46% of teams and shot a six-over 78 on Thursday. The day began innocently enough with two birdies on the front nine, but then Thomas racked up two double-bogeys. On the back nine, he had a four-bogey streak on Holes 4, 5, 6 and 7, which included one double-bogey. He did finish the round with two birdies, but it was too little, too late.
