In the $1M Sand Trap Special tournament, there were 24 golfers rostered on at least 10% of teams. Five of those were unable to make the cut for the weekend:
Sepp Straka ($8,000; 14 FPTS) was the fourth-most rostered golfer at 18.71% but missed the cut by six strokes. After Thursday’s 78, Straka fired a four-over 76 on Friday. Things started poorly, as he bogeyed three of the first five holes. He did bounce back with two birdies to close out the front nine, but then racked up a bogey and a double-bogey on the final hole to close out the tournament.
Rasmus Hojgaard ($8,300; 8.5 FPTS) was the seventh-highest rostered golfer at 15.91%. His tournament was essentially over after Thursday’s 82. On Friday, Hojgaard shot a five-over 77. He had two bogeys and a birdie on the front nine. On the back nine, he birdied the second hole, but then closed out the tournament in horrible fashion with three bogeys and a double-bogey on the final four holes. Hojgaard finished with the worst score of the tournament at 15-over, 11 shots off the cut line.
Robert Macintyre ($8,100; 18 FPTS) was rostered on 12.7% of teams. Macintyre missed the cut line by three strokes after shooting a 76 and 75. During Friday’s round, he had a double-bogey on Hole 3 then followed that up with a bogey on the next hole. He got one back with a birdie two holes later then notched another birdie on the second hole of the back nine. Unfortunately, he racked up two more bogeys to finish out the round.
Viktor Hovland ($7,900; 19 FPTS) shot a 73 on Thursday and looked poised to make it to the weekend. Unfortunately, Friday’s round was a rough one. He racked up four bogeys and a birdie on the front nine, then notched two more bogeys on the back nine before draining a birdie on the final hole. He finished four-over for the day and missed the cut by one stroke.
Sungjae Im ($9,200; 21.5 FPTS) was rostered on 10.06% of teams. After shooting a two-over 74 on Thursday, things did not start off well on Friday, racking up two bogeys and a double-bogey on the front nine. He bounced back with two birdies sandwiched around a bogey on the back nine, but he finished the day three-over, missing the cut by one stroke.
