The Eagles didn’t just win; they essentially DOMINATED the Chiefs from start to finish. As GoJo put it, this was one of the most thorough beatdowns he’s ever seen in a championship game. No amount of game-planning could have changed the outcome because, as Senior explained, football always comes down to matchups. You can scheme all you want, but ultimately, it’s about who wins the battle on the field. As Senior noted, they lined up and WHOOPED that ass, completely overwhelming the Chiefs in every phase of the game.

Defensively, the Eagles made life miserable for Patrick Mahomes, and it started up front. Senior highlighted Josh Sweat racked up 2.5 sacks, leading a pass rush that brought Mahomes down six times and pressured him 16 times—all without ever needing to send extra rushers. Philadelphia’s front four handled business independently, completely dismantling the Chiefs’ offense. This felt different from all the incredible moments we’ve seen at Mahomes. Even in his Super Bowl loss to the Bucs, we were still in awe of what he pulled off to give his team a chance. This time? The Eagles had him completely rattled, more than ever before. The Eagles defense held the Chiefs to just one first down in the first half, keeping them from crossing midfield on their first nine drives. Senior highlighted that their suffocating effort ranks among the most dominant in Super Bowl history, drawing comparisons to the 2000 Ravens, 2002 Buccaneers, and 1985 Bears.

For years, the GOAT debate in football has revolved around Tom Brady. But with Patrick Mahomes’ sustained dominance, the conversation had begun shifting until what we saw last night. As GoJo pointed out jokingly, Tom Brady was probably watching from the booth with a knowing smile, seeing Mahomes struggle as the Chiefs fell short. Senior added Brady has lost Super Bowls, won them, and even relied on his defense to get it done, just as Mahomes has. GoJo contended that before the game, many saw the Mount Rushmore of postseason quarterbacks such as Brady, Mahomes, and Joe Montana, with the fourth spot up for debate. Mahomes was inching closer to Brady, but this loss may have slowed the roll on Mahomes being in the GOAT conversation, according to GoJo. Senior pointed out that the reality is that winning four Super Bowls without a loss is rare, and only Joe Montana and Terry Bradshaw have done it. And Bradshaw’s era was built on a dominant run game, whereas Montana was one of the best passers ever. He noted that even if Mahomes had won this year, he wasn’t surpassing Brady just yet and explained that there is always more work to do.

As the Chiefs shift to next season, Senior believes the Chiefs’ biggest priority this offseason has to be fixing the offensive line. GM Brett Veach has a tough job ahead, especially with Trey Smith likely leaving and needing a new left tackle. Joe Thuney’s age is also a concern, making it clear that Kansas City had to invest in protecting Patrick Mahomes. Despite those challenges, the Chiefs’ offensive weapons are in a solid place. With Xavier Worthy and Rashee Rice returning, along with Isiah Pacheco in the backfield, they had plenty of talent. However, Travis Kelce’s future remained uncertain, which could significantly impact their offense. Senior pointed out that Kansas City needs a more potent pass rush on defense. While George Karlaftis had improved, the Chiefs rarely generated pressure with their front four alone. Unlike the Eagles, who dominated up front, Kansas City relied heavily on blitzing to disrupt opposing quarterbacks. Steve Spagnuolo’s defense had success bringing extra pressure, but Senior made it clear that they needed more consistency from their pass rush. For the Chiefs to stay in Super Bowl contention, Senior emphasized that rebuilding the offensive line and strengthening the pass rush had to be their top priorities this offseason.
