The College Football Playoff semifinals kick off with a great matchup between Notre Dame and Penn State. Here are the betting splits and most popular player prop bets at DraftKings Sportsbook.
Notre Dame is a 1.5-point favorite over Penn State with a total of 45.5 in the Orange Bowl at DraftKings Sportsbook.
Betting Splits
Notre Dame is a short favorite and the public is backing them on both the spread and the moneyline. They are getting 55% of the moneyline bets and 65% of the spread bets. They are getting 59% of the handle on moneyline bets and 68% of the handle on spread bets as well. That means the public is backing the Irish but the bigger money, however slightly, is also favoring Notre Dame.
The Irish have had an incredible season since their embarrassing loss to Northern Illinois in September. They are now on a 12-game winning streak and after beating the SEC Champions in the quarterfinals, the public is all in on Notre Dame. Penn State has also had a great season, however, the public might have some concerns over their ability to win a game of this magnitude. Penn State’s two losses this season came against Ohio State in the regular season and Oregon in the Big Ten Championship Game, the only two elite teams they have faced this season. They were significant favorites in both of their CFP games so far and Notre Dame will be their toughest test since the Oregon game.
Bettors are also all over the under 45.5 in this game. 61% of the bets are on the under and big money is also leaning that way as 68% of the handle is on the under. Notre Dame is second in the nation in scoring defense, allowing just 13.6 PPG and Penn State is fifth in the nation in scoring defense, allowing just 15.8 PPG. Both defenses have continued to be fantastic throughout the CFP. Neither team has allowed more than 17 points through their four playoff games so far. Bettors are counting on both defenses to win the day again and keep this game under the total.

The public is backing Penn State’s Nicholas Singleton and Tyler Warren to find the end zone. Both have been incredible all season, leading the team in rushing touchdowns and receiving touchdowns, respectively. Meanwhile, the public also likes both of Notre Dame’s running backs to find the end zone. Jeremiyah Love left the Georgia game with an injury but is “good to go” for this game according to Marcus Freeman. Prior to the Georgia game that he left early, Love had scored a touchdown in every game this season. Bettors are backing him to do so again in this game. However, some bettors are wary of Love’s health and betting on backup RB Jadarian Price to find the end zone. If Love isn’t at 100%, Price should see a lot more action and have a chance to find the end zone himself.
