The Kings downgraded star point guard De’Aaron Fox (glute) from doubtful to out on Sunday afternoon ahead of their Sunday night matchup in Golden State against the Warriors. With Fox sidelined, Malik Monk ($6,800) will get more work at point guard and rookie Devin Carter ($3,000) could get more work after his NBA debut on Friday. Monk is already pretty pricey, though, so it’s Keon Ellis ($3,600) that becomes a fantasy bargain factor in Fox’s absence.

Ellis has started the last two games for the Kings and was able to make enough of an impact to be a good value play under $4,000. His moved back into the starting five with Keegan Murray ($4,800) out with an ankle injury.
He started Jan. 1 against the 76ers and had nine points, four steals and 26.75 fantasy points in 38 minutes. He was even better on Thursday against the Grizzlies, earning 30.5 fantasy points on 13 points, three steals, three assists and four rebounds.
On the season, Ellis has averaged 0.76 fantasy points per minute while averaging 20.8 minutes per game. With Fox off the floor, Ellis’s production has ticked up to 0.81 fantasy points per minute.
With Murray available after missing the last two games, Ellis would likely have returned to the second unit and had limited fantasy potential, but Fox’s absence should open up enough opportunity for the 24-year-old to be a good value play once again this Sunday.
