Matsuyama ($9,600; 181.5 FPTS) was on-point all week in Hawaii to nab the first PGA tournament of the year and 11th of his career.
After Thurday’s first round, Matsuyama was one stroke off the lead. On Friday, he took sole possession of first with an eight-under 65, the same score he shot on Thursday. Matsuyama went 11-under on Saturday, but that was matched by two others. On Sunday, Matsuyama once again finished with an eight-under 65 to win it all.
Matsuyama eagled Hole 3 then had three birdies sandwiched around a bogey to close out the front nine. On the back nine, he notched four birdies.
In the $500K Pitch + Putt tournament, Matsuyama was rostered on 8.59 percent of teams.
There were two golfers rostered on over 30 percent of teams: Xander Schauffele ($11,000; 101 FPTS) at 39.28 percent and Collin Morikawa ($10,100; 161.5 FPTS) at 30.42 percent.
Schauffele finished T30 while Morikawa finished second.
