The 2024 U.S. Open tees off this week from Pinehurst Resort & Country Club in North Carolina. The third major of the year will feature an impressive field that includes several past U.S. Open winners including Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, Matt Fitzpatrick, and 2023 champion Wyndham Clark. World No. 1 and 2024 Masters winner Scottie Scheffler headlines the field, and 2024 PGA Championship winner Xander Schauffele will compete, as well. The tournament will run from Thursday, June 13 through Sunday, June 16.

Scottie Scheffler +320
The Scottie train keeps on rolling. He has now won five of his last eight starts and finished as a runner-up in two of those eight. Scheffler has not dropped out of the top 10 in a tournament since January. His latest win, a one-stroke victory over Collin Morikawa at the Memorial, also marked his eighth straight tournament in which he gained strokes on the green — an area that used to be an issue for the World No. 1. Scheffler is on the hunt for his second major of the year and enters as a heavy favorite to win at Pinehurst. He finished with a solo third in 2023 and a T2 in 2022 at the U.S. Open.
Bryson DeChambeau +1800
DeChambeau grabbed a T6 at The Masters and a solo second at the PGA Championship, and finds himself perfectly poised for a win at Pinehurst. His last major win came at the 2020 U.S. Open, and he returns ranking second in the field in Strokes Gained: Tee to Green and first in the field in Strokes Gained: Off the Tee over the past three months. His competitive Sundays in this year’s previous majors make him a solid non-Scottie pick for this week in North Carolina.
Ludvig Aberg +2200
Aberg kicked off the 2024 majors season with a fantastic performance at Augusta, finishing second behind Scheffler in his first ever major. He stumbled big-time at the PGA Championship, but is back on his game after a T5 at the Memorial last week. Aberg could be a real contender at Pinehurst in his first ever U.S. Open. He has shown time and time again that he can compete among the best of them. Pinehurst will bring challenges aplenty, but Aberg may be one of the better-equipped golfers to handle those challenges — he ranks fourth in the field in total strokes gained over the last three months.
Max Homa +5000
I’ll add one more pick than usual for this week, because it’s a major and because the Scottie pick feels like a layup. Homa grabbed a T3 at Augusta earlier this year. While the pressure got to him a bit toward the end — a bad shot on 12 from Homa in the fourth round put extra distance between him and Scheffler — it feels like the up-and-comer finally got over the majors hump with his Masters finish. Before then, he had just one finish within the top 40 at a major. He has two top-40s already this year, and is a crowd favorite. Expect Homa to be in contention on Sunday at the very least.
