Timberwolves vs. Suns pick against the spread, over/under for Game 3

The Minnesota Timberwolves will be looking to grab a 3-0 series lead when they visit the Phoenix Suns late Friday evening in Game 3 of their first-round series in the 2024 NBA Playoffs. Minnesota is coming off another big victory in Game 2 and Phoenix will be hoping to flip the script at home to get back in the series.

Kyle Anderson is listed as questionable for the Timberwolves and didn’t play in the last game. Grayson Allen suffered an ankle injury in Game 2 and is considered questionable for Phoenix.

The Suns are 5-point favorites according to DraftKings Sportsbook with the total set at 208. Phoenix is -198 on the moneyline while Minnesota is +164.

Timberwolves vs. Suns, 10:30 p.m. ET

Pick ATS: Suns -5

Minnesota is 36-21 straight up after a win this year and 26-29-2 ATS in the same category. However, the Timberwolves do slip a bit on the road compared to their record at home. The Suns were horrendous against the number at home, going 16-24-1 ATS. Phoenix is 20-14 straight up after a loss and 17-17 ATS in the same category.

The Suns were in a similar situation last year in the second round against the Nuggets and found a way to get wins at home in Games 3 and 4. Kevin Durant and Devin Booker were the catalysts for those victories so even though the numbers suggest taking Minnesota, I’ll take Phoenix to punch back in this series tonight.

Over/Under: Over 208

Phoenix went 17-23-1 to the over as the home team and Minnesota was 23-18 to the over as the road side. The Timberwolves do slip a bit defensively away from home, and I think the Suns’ superstars finally find their offensive rhythm in this contest. After failing to top 100 points in each of the first two games, I think Phoenix breaks out offensively in Game 3 Friday night. That should lead to the over hitting, especially on a lower total.
