Patrick Mahomes suffered a high ankle last week against the Browns but appears to be on track to play on Saturday against the Texans. And that’s just how Houston expected things to go.
Texans rookie safety Calen Bullock joined Ross Tucker on the latest episode of the Ross Tucker Podcast and said the Texans have been preparing for Mahomes all along. Bullock says that Mahomes is the best of his era and the Texans know what Mahomes brings to the table. Mahomes will extend plays and make something happen, so Bullock says the Texans’ defense has to be ready to do their jobs on both the front and back end.
Ross notes that Bullock may be young, but he has been watching Mahomes for a long time. So what does he think it will be like to take the field against the future Hall of Famer? Bullock says these are the moments he prays for and can’t wait for. He hopes he can make some plays and earn Mahomes’ respect. Bullock says he knows that it could be 1-on-1 between him and Mahomes and that the QB will likely try to look him off to make certain throws. Bullock says he’s been watching Mahomes since high school and is looking to go out and pick off the legend for another INT.
Of course, the Texans have already clinched the AFC South division title, but Bullock told Ross that Demeco Ryans has told the team it’s playoff time and the next three games will put the team in the position they want to be in so they have to finish strong and take it game by game. The Texans currently sit in the No. 4 slot in the AFC playoff picture at 9-5 and have +3000 odds on DraftKings Sportsbook to hoist the Lombardi Trophy, with nine teams ahead of them. They close out the season with matchups against the Chiefs, Ravens and Titans.
