Going after this poor Ravens secondary is a highly recommended strategy tonight. This Ravens defense has allowed an explosive play on 18% of the dropbacks faced, which is the 2nd-highest in the league. Herbert comes into this game with an aDOT of 9.2 (8th) and 42 pass attempts of at least 20 yards (T-7th). On those deep shots, Herbert has the 2nd-best completion rate of 52% and seven of his touchdowns, which is tied for the top mark in the league with Jalen Hurts.
Both McConkey and Johnston are his top targets in this offense. McConkey has soaked up 24% of the targets and 29% of the air yards. Johnston has the highest aDOT of 15, averaging over 16 yards per reception. In this soft matchup against the Ravens, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see both of them go over their receiving yard total.

We can take this further and go for a big game from Herbert against a beatable Ravens secondary. The analysis is essentially the same as the prior SGP; we’re just taking an alt line for Herbert’s passing yards, adding on two passing touchdowns and over 2.5 total touchdowns for the Chargers. This game has the highest total of the week, so it would be shocking to not see a lot of scoring in this one, especially on the Chargers side.
Funny enough, Herbert hasn’t eclipsed 300 passing yards more than once this season. When he did, it was against the Cardinals, but he didn’t register a passing touchdown, oddly enough. With his full complement of receivers and one of the best matchups of the year, I think Herbert will put it all together tonight.

The Ravens should find success on the ground running against the Chargers. The Ravens have run the ball 44% of the time from under center. This has been a weak spot for the Chargers, who have allowed 4.9 yards per carry on designed runs under center. The Ravens wont be shy about running the ball in this game and I think that’s where a lot of their offensive success will come from tonight.
