DraftKings Fantasy Football Millionaire Winning Lineup Breakdown: Week 10

Week 10 was an odd week of fantasy football production with much lower scores across the board. In Week 9, the winning entry in the DraftKings Fantasy Football Millionaire posted a jaw-dropping 262.1 fantasy points, but in Week 10 only three of the 150,000+ entries came within 100 points of that score. Regardless of the total score, the “Crowning Moment” and the $1,000,000 top prize hit the same. In Week 10, that “Crowning Moment” went to giantsquid, who built the top entry this week with a total of 178.32 fantasy points, finishing two points ahead of javiegenry.

49ers stack

The core of this entry was a three-player stack from the 49ers. Brock Purdy ($6,500; 26.82 FPTS) connected on two touchdown passes and threw for 353 passing yards against the Bucs. He threw one of those touchdowns to George Kittle ($5,800; 14.7 FPTS) and completed seven passes to Jauan Jennings ($5,100; 16.3 FPTS) to make all three of those 49ers solid plays.

Purdy was the third-highest scoring QB on Sunday’s slate while Kittle was the No. 3 tight end option behind only Travis Kelce ($6,000; 20.4 FPTS) and T.J. Hockenson ($4,700; 15.2 FPTS). Jennings didn’t get a touchdown, but he led the team in targets, catches, and receiving yards. He’s locked into a solid role right now for the 49ers while Ricky Pearsall ($4,400; 17.3 FPTS) is also very intriguing.

I broke down Jennings and Pearsall last Friday, and I still think they’re very usable going forward. The stacking San Francisco strategy definitely worked for giantsquid this week.

Backfield beasts

On the way to a “Crowning Moment,” giantsquid leaned into three very productive running backs.

Falcons RB Bijan Robinson ($7,700; 32.4 FPTS) was the highest scorer on the roster and the entire slate. He and the Falcons came up short against the Saints, but Bijan racked up 116 rushing yards and 28 receiving yards along with two touchdowns.

With Brian Robinson Jr. (hamstring) out for a second straight game, Austin Ekeler ($5,800; 18.1 FPTS) was a must-start in Week 10. The veteran ran for two scores and was the fourth-highest-scoring RB on Sunday’s slate. Like Bijan, his team lost in real life but he helped carry giantsquid to a win.

The third running back that was part of Week 10’s “Crowning Moment” was James Conner ($6,500; 22.3 FPTS). Conner was the No. 2 running back on the main slate behind only Robinson, and he powered the Cardinals past the Jets with 33 rushing yards, a rushing score, and five catches for 80 yards.

Ridley me this

The 49ers stack and three-headed monster at running back were the core of the winning entry, but how did giantsquid get enough leverage to finish in the top spot? The key choice was Calvin Ridley ($5,700; 25.4 FPTS). Ridley was owned in under 4% of entries and had two touchdowns against the Chargers.

He and Marquez Valdes-Scantling ($3,900; 28.9 FPTS) were the only two receivers on the main slate to post more than 21 fantasy points. The highest ownership of all WRs went to DeAndre Hopkins ($5,900; 9.6 FPTS), who was in 30.6% of lineups, and the highest ownership on the slate was Aaron Jones ($6,700 ; 12.1 FPTS). Neither of those chalky plays totally busted, but Ridley was a much better pivot and helped giantsquid rise to the “Crowning Moment this week.

Defense wins championships

It makes sense in a low-scoring week that the DST on the winning entry was important. The Patriots DST ($2,500; 16 FPTS) was a low-cost option that delivered big fantasy points by racking up nine sacks against the Bears and allowing just three points in their big road win.

The Bottom Line

Even though fantasy points were harder to come by in Week 10, giantsquid claimed the “Crowning Moment” and the top prize in the Milly Maker thanks to Ridley as a strong leverage play with three solid running backs and a strong stack. Stacking and building around solid RBs is a good strategy to consider as you get your roster ready for next week.

Looking ahead to Week 11, you can take your shot at a “Crowning Moment” and a $1,000,000 top prize in the NFL $2.5M Fantasy Football Millionaire [$1M to 1st]. Week 11’s main slate features 11 games on Sunday afternoon with eight games in the early wave and just three spotlight matchups at around 4:00. The Bills and Chiefs clash in a huge AFC matchup in Buffalo in that late window in what should be a great potential playoff preview.
