This is a new article here on DK Network to hopefully give the bettors a look behind the book at the most heavily bet NBA player props of the night by ticket count. It indicates which props bettors are most interested in for that slate of games, and I’ll try and offer some analysis as to why (or analysis as to why you should be careful). Please keep in mind that betting the NBA is an ever-changing market, and that injury news closer to tip could always take one of these players off the board, or change other props that become more heavily bet close to tipoff.
LeBron James OVER 22.5 Points (-125)
LeBron is averaging just 20 points through four games, and has gone over this mark only once in the early going. However, bettors are chasing a narrative here, with James returning home to Cleveland, potentially looking to put on a show.
Jayson Tatum OVER 27.5 Points (-115)
Tatum is averaging 28.5 points through four games, but has been boom or bust. He has two 37-point games, but is coming off his worst game of the season — 15 points against Milwaukee. Bettors are banking on a bounce-back from JT in a matchup that treated him very well last season. Including the postseason, Tatum averaged over 31 points against the Pacers last season. He went for 30-plus in six of those games, including all four regular season meetings.
Karl-Anthony Towns OVER 9.5 Rebounds (-135)
After struggling in limited minutes in the opener in Boston, Towns has ripped down double-digit rebounds in both games since. He also had double-digit boards in his last three preseason games with the Knicks, so bettors are hoping the trend continues in Miami.
Karl-Anthony Towns Double-Double: YES (-130)
Essentially, this is a five-cent discount on KAT’s rebounding prop. You’d assume he goes for 10 or more points, and now lay -130 on KAT to grab 10 rebounds.
LaMelo Ball OVER 7.5 Assists (-135)
Ball is off to a scorching start to the season as a scorer, but only went over this number in the season opener when it comes to dishing assists. Bettors are confident that Ball will be in distribution mode on Wednesday, priced as a rare favorite against a poor Raptors team.
