Fantasy Football Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em Week 8 Cheat Sheet

By: Jeff Pratt

Do you have tough lineup decisions to make Sunday? I’ve got you covered.

Welcome to your one-stop shop for Week 8 fantasy football start/sit advice. In this article, I’ll highlight one pick from each of my positional start ’em, sit ’em articles for this week’s slate. Check out each article for a deeper dive into that position!

Quarterback

Start ‘Em: Tua Tagovailoa (Dolphins) vs. Cardinals

I get it, this is a frightening proposition.

Some fantasy managers may want to see Tua make it through an entire game before trusting him in their starting lineups again. That’s understandable. However, this is a fantastic opportunity for Tagovailoa to return in dominant fashion. The Cardinals are atrocious defensively, allowing the fifth-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks and sixth-most passing yards per game. On the other side of the ball, Tua has a fully healthy offensive arsenal at his disposal in Tyreek Hill, De’Von Achane and Jaylen Waddle.

While it’s a risky move, Tua has legitimate QB1 potential this week.

Running Back

Sit ‘Em: Tony Pollard (Titans) at Lions

Pollard put together an impressive start to the season, but wasn’t able to maintain his recent production against the Bills. While Buffalo was a favorable matchup for the veteran back on paper, he managed just 8.5 PPR points. failing to get anything going on the ground or through the air.

It won’t get any easier for Pollard this week, as he takes on a Lions defense that allows the fewest fantasy points to opposing running backs per game. Even with Aidan Hutchinson no longer on the line for Detroit, I expect game script to hinder Pollard from seeing consistent touches or production.

Wide Receiver

Start ‘Em: Jalen McMillan (Buccaneers) vs. Falcons

Another rookie stepping into a significantly expanded role.

McMillan has been an afterthought in Tampa Bay’s offense thus far — as is the case for most rookies — but that will no longer be the case. Chris Godwin suffered a season-ending injury against the Ravens and Mike Evans will almost certainly be sidelined for the foreseeable future after hurting his hamstring.

Suddenly, an elite Bucs passing attack has lost its two best weapons. McMillan saw eight targets against Baltimore after Evans went down early, and he should be featured heavily moving forward.

Tight End

Sit ‘Em: Tyler Conklin (Jets) at Patriots

After a few weeks of outperforming expectations, I think Conklin will finally fall victim to the Jets simply having too many weapons.

Davante Adams, Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard are definitively ahead of him on Aaron Rodgers’ pecking order. Breece Hall is consistently involved in the passing game. There’s only one ball to go around.

Conklin did find the end zone last week, but he managed just four receptions for a grand total of… seven yards. It’s touchdown or bust for the veteran this week, and that’s not a game I want to play with better options out there.
