The states listed below are ones that have voted Republican every Presidential election since 2000, which is a span of six Presidential Elections.

*Nebraska is one of two states that has split Electoral Votes, along with Maine. Nebraska joined Maine in 1992 as the only two states where a “winner-take-all” is not used. These states use what’s called a “congressional district method.” This means, the state gives two electoral votes to the state popular winner. The others are then given to the popular vote winner in each congressional district. The state of Nebraska has three while Maine has two. A split in Nebraska in the 2008 election, giving Barack Obama an electoral vote. While Nebraska is heavily Republican, all electoral votes would not be considered “safe” and meet this criteria.
