Fantasy Football Week 4: Top WR/CB matchups to exploit

It’s important to look at WR/CB matchups when setting your lineups. At times, we have some matchups that we can exploit and receive the best fantasy output in return. I’ll do my best to point out some of the best matchups to target when making your fantasy or DraftKings lineup.

Rashee Rice (KC) vs. Ja’Sir Taylor (LAC)

I don’t think I need to tell you that Patrick Mahomes has put his complete trust in Rice. Entering the week, Rice not only leads the team in targets, but has more than double anyone else. His 29 targets lead Travis Kelce by 16. When it comes to the other wide receivers, the speedy Xavier Worthy has drawn 11 for the second-most amongst that group. So, it’s safe to say, with this amount of targets and a good matchup on deck, Rice could be in for a big Week 4. This is one of my favorite WR/CB matchups to exploit.

Rice is going to see a good dose of Taylor when he plays in the slot. Taylor is the main slot corner for the Chargers, doing so on 76% of his snaps. In coverage, Taylor has been targeted against six times and has allowed six catches for 58 yards and 9.7 YPR. This picks up where he left off last year when he allowed a 61% reception rate for 11.3 YPR. Rice is doing major damage after the catch already, logging 185 yards, which is best in the league amongst all wide receivers. This is a potential huge spot for Rice against a porous Chargers secondary.

Rashee Rice Props (as of 9/25)
Receiving Yards: 76.5
Longest Reception: 23.5
Anytime Touchdown: +130

Jayden Reed (GB) vs. Byron Murphy Jr. (MIN)

It’s looking as if the Packers will be getting Jordan Love back from injury. Despite not being 100%, Love wants to play and the Packers are willing to let him get out there. With Love, Reed enjoyed a huge Week 1 against the Eagles. He made four catches for 138 yards and a touchdown. After seeing a 17.5 aDOT with Love, Reed feel into the negative with Malik Willis, somehow posting -2.0 and -1.2 on eight targets.

Defensively, the Vikings have been so good to start the year, especially against the run. However, one particular matchup to exploit will be Reed playing in the slot. He’ll matchup against Murphy Jr, who has already been targeted against 22 times. He’s alowed 16 catches for 209 yards and 13.1 YPR. This is already setting up to be a huge change from last year for Murphy Jr, as he allowed a total of 715 yards against him last year. Murphy is on pace to allow over 1,200 receiving yards through the first three weeks of the season. This should be a great spot for Reed, especially with Love back under center.

Jayden Reed Props (as of 9/25)
Receiving Yards: 47.5
Receptions: 4.5
Longest Reception: 21.5
Anytime Touchdown: +160

Marvin Harrison Jr (ARZ) vs. Mike Sainristil (WAS)

It’ll be the rookie wideout against the rookie corner in Week 4. Harrison Jr. is already exceeding expectations through the first three weeks of the season. He’s seen 21 targets and has made 10 catches for 198 yards, three touchdowns and an aDOT of 17.8. His aDOT of 17.8 is second in the league amongst all wide receivers with at least 18 targets. Only Rome Odunze is higher at 18.3. Harrison Jr is probably salivating at his Week 4 matchup against the Commanders and rookie corner Sainristil.

In coverage, Sainristil has been targeted against 13 times, allowing 11 catches for 126 yards, 86 which have come after the catch. He’s also been scored against in each of the Commanders three games against the Buccaneers, Giants and Bengals. On top of that, Harrison Jr. is going to have a big size advantage on Sainristil. The Commanders corner is 5’10” and 182 pound while Harrison Jr is 6’4″ and 205 pounds. With the deep ball very much in play, this could be a big afternoon for the Cardinals top pick.
