Marshall Newhouse: It’s GO Time for Aaron Rodgers, Jets

Tonight, we get our first Monday Night Football game of the season: a thrilling clash between the San Francisco 49ers and the New York Jets.

This game boasts a range of compelling storylines, and former NFL offensive lineman Marshall Newhouse joined Mike Golic Jr. and Mike Golic Sr. on Monday’s edition of GoJo & Golic to break them all down.

Most of the buzz in this matchup is about Aaron Rodgers’ return following his season-ending Achilles injury last year. GoJo asked Newhouse, who played with Rodgers in Green Bay, what the Jets need to ensure Rodgers succeeds with his revamped offensive line. Newhouse strongly advised them to go all out, emphasizing that the 40-year-old Rodgers isn’t getting any younger and that the clock is ticking. The Jets need to maximize their investment in Rodgers and their defensive upgrades to elevate the team. Rodgers is currently the favorite to win Comeback Player of the Year at DraftKings Sportsbooks with +125 odds.

The stakes are high as the Jets aim to prove they can be a serious contender. With soaring expectations, this season will be a crucial test of their strategic decisions and Rodgers’ ability to deliver success. The Jets have +1900 odds of winning the Super Bowl at DraftKings Sportsbook.

During the Cash It or Trash It segment, GoJo asked Newhouse if he was betting on Christian McCaffrey to score a touchdown, given his 17-game touchdown streak. Newhouse is backing the bet, predicting McCaffrey will score at least once. He also highlighted the Jets’ formidable defense and described the 49ers’ season as one of “no excuses.” However, given McCaffrey’s past calf issues and the length of the season, Newhouse believes McCaffrey might be on a “pitch count” to keep him fresh later in the season. The 49ers have +600 odds to win the Super Bowl at DraftKings Sportsbook.

Senior followed up on Newhouse’s take, expressing concerns on whether McCaffrey will get through the season, given that his calf issues have lingered. McCaffrey currently has +900 odds to win Offensive Player of the Year at DraftKings Sportsbook.
