The WNBA’s Wednesday slate features a single matchup between the Indiana Fever and Los Angeles Sparks. Despite the limited slate, there are still plenty of options to consider on DraftKings Sportsbook.
The Fever enter this matchup favored by 11.5 points on DraftKings Sportsbook. There are few teams hotter than Indiana right now. The team enters Wednesday’s game with a 6-1 record since the WNBA resumed play following the Paris Olympics. Only the Minnesota Lynx have produced a higher winning percentage during this stretch. The Sparks have been on the other end of the spectrum, with a 1-7 record that’s outpaced only the Chicago Sky.
Let’s look below at my top bets for Wednesday’s WNBA betting card and an analysis based on recent trends and player strength.
Los Angeles Sparks vs. Indiana Fever
Caitlin Clark Over 21.5 Points -135
The electrifying backcourt led by Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell has been tearing up defenses throughout the season, but now has reached a new level since returning from the Olympic break. Entering Wednesday’s game, only A’Ja Wilson’s average of 28.4 points per game has outpaced Mitchell (26.7) and Clark (24.6) during this span.
It’s worth noting, Clark averaged only 20.5 points per game in two previous performances against the Sparks. Her production is weighed down by an 11-point performance while shooting 4 of 14 (28.6%) from the floor and 2 of 9 (22.2%) from deep on May 24. Just four days later, she responded by dropping 30 points.
Given how well Clark has played over the past few months, she’s going to score 22 points or more often than not. Against a struggling Sparks team, the outlook is favorable for Wednesday to be one of those nights.
There are additional options on DraftKings Sportsbook for Clark’s scoring volume. If you’re confident she’ll score a higher volume than just breaking the 22-point threshold, you can get 25 points or more at +145, 30 points or more at +425, and 35 points or more at +1300.
Fever Over 93.5 Points -115
Given how hot the Fever have been offensively, betting on their scoring total could be an attractive option. Indiana has scored 100 points in two consecutive games with an over/under set at 93.5 points against the Sparks. Both of those performances were on the road as well.
The Sparks give up an average of 86.2 points per game on the season, which is the third worst opponent scoring average in the league. The Fever rank right behind them at 11th overall as they give up 86.5 points per game this season. With both teams having underwhelming defensive units, it could be a high scoring matchup.
It’s worth proceeding with some caution here, though, considering the Fever’s over/under is set at a lofty figure. If you’re confident that Indiana will continue to put up big numbers against a bad defensive group, then this might be a great option to consider.
Rickea Jackson 16+ Points -120
It’s been an impressive rookie campaign for Rickea Jackson, who is averaging 12.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.4 assists on the season. Her production has only increased since the Olympic break as she’s averaged 16.1 points while shooting 50.5% from the floor and 47.1% from long range.
Coming off just a 13-point outing against the Atlanta Dream that featured her shooting 5 of 16 (31.3%) from the floor and 1 of 4 (25.0%) from the perimeter, a matchup against a bad defense could get her back on track. She entered the blowout loss against Atlanta having scored 17 or more points in three consecutive games, including dropping 19 against the New York Liberty in a surprising victory.
Depending on how confident you are in Jackson’s scoring volume, you can get 18 points or more at +150, along with 20 points or more at +260 and 25 points or more at +950. It’s worth noting, she’s reached the 25-point threshold once this season and has hit 20 points three times.
