Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are the largest power couple in the current celebrity scene.
The star-studded duo have been publically dating for over a year and each has seen great success in seemingly every outlet they get involved in. From music to football to podcasting, the couple has money and headlines pouring in from all angles.
With the NFL season upon us, Kelce will now turn his attention back to his main outlet—playing football.
Taylor Swift has also become a familiar face in the stands. The pop star was seen at several Chiefs games last year and was showcased by the NFL on the TV screens often.
The defending Super Bowl champs are set to open up the NFL season against the Baltimore Ravens. While the Eras Tour is not yet complete, and will resume for the final portion in October, Swift is in the midst of a break.
Last season, Swift attended 13 Chiefs games. She surely will add to this number this season. There even have been jokes about Swift drawing up plays for Kansas City this season.
Thursday Night’s season opener will also involve the Chiefs getting last year’s Super Bowl rings’ distributed. With the pomp and circumstance of last year’s success and expectations for next season all set to kick off, there is growing expectation that Swift will be in attendance.
Looking back on last year’s track record, the Chiefs have won 10 of the 13 games that Swift has watched in person. It would be unfair to fully characterize Swift as a good luck charm—considering Kansas City went 11-6 last year and won all four playoff games—but it’s not out of the question. Kelce has scored a touchdown in four of these games, including the matchup against the Bills in which the future Hall of Fame TE tallied two.
Kelce signed a two-year extension with the Chiefs worth up to $34.25 million this offseason and is now set to suit up for Kansas City through 2027. This also came shortly before the announcement that his New Heights podcast, along with his brother Jason Kelce, reached a three-year, $100 million deal with Amazon’s Wondery.
On the field, Kelce is quietly coming off a down season. He was held to 984 receiving yards last season, which is his fewest since 2015. He also got in the end zone just five times in the regular season, which is the fewest since 2019.
The 34-year-old should be aided by the additions of Chiefs wide receivers Xavier Worthy and Marquise “Hollywood” Brown this year. The notable defensive attention held to the star tight end felt like a more notable reason for the dip in production. In either case, it has not held back the team from succeeding by any means.
Looking at Week 1, the Chiefs are 3-point favorites on DraftKings Sportsbook and -148 on the moneyline. Travis Kelce’s receiving prop sits at 57.5 for the opening game with Rashee Rice being the only player to have a higher prop. Kelce also has +115 odds to score a touchdown, +800 to score two touchdowns, and is +750 to be the first touchdown scorer.
If there is one thing that has been made clear about Travis Kelce at this point, it is that he is a showman.
With the ring ceremony set to occur, the matchup against the second favorites in the AFC (Ravens +550 to win Conference), and potentially Taylor Swift in attendance—the spotlight will be there for the taking.
