Brian Flores addressed the media at Vikings practice yesterday, responding to Tua Tagovailoa’s comments expressed in an interview with The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz that Flores was a terrible person.
“I’m genuinely happy about Tua’s success,” Flores said. “I wish him nothing but the best.”
Additionally, Flores took responsibility for what he said, negatively impacting Tagovailoa and his confidence. It seemed like Flores was taking a more self-reflective approach in his comments. Mike Golic Jr. and Mike Golic Sr. weighed in during Wednesday’s GoJo and Golic on Flores’ response to the controversy.
GoJo and Senior agreed that Flores made the right decision by not getting into a back-and-forth with Tua. Responding combatively would only worsen their issues and give more legs to the storyline. What is becoming apparent from both camps is that no players or coaches are speaking out on either side. Senior finds it interesting no one else has spoken out, given the age of social media and how everyone has a platform to give their opinion. Players and coaches close to both parties appear to be staying out of this situation and GoJo and Senior hope this discussion is ready to be laid to rest.
As GoJo points out, Flores has a Minnesota defense to focus on. The Vikings have a win total over/under of 6.5 on DraftKings Sportsbook, along with +8000 odds to win the Super Bowl in the aftermath of JJ McCarthy being lost for the season. Tua, meanwhile, has +800 odds to lead the league in regular season passing yards. The Dolphins have a win total over/under of 9.5 and +2200 odds to win the Super Bowl. So both teams are probably eager to put this controversy behind them so they can focus on the business of football.
