After Jayden Daniels had an impressive preseason debut on Saturday afternoon, Caleb Williams must have said “Hold my beer.” The No. 1 pick in last year’s NFL draft couldn’t be upstaged by Daniels, so he put up a strong preseason debut of his own.
Williams got the start for the Bears in their afternoon game in Buffalo against the Bills. The Bears got the ball first and his first NFL completion went to D.J. Moore to convert this 3rd & 12 into a first down.
Williams connected with offseason acquisition D’Andre Swift for this 42-yard gain later in the drive and ultimately the Bears had to settle for a field goal.
On the next possession, Williams produced his most impressive highlight of the day, rolling to his right and finding Cole Kmet for 26 yards.
That drive also ended in a field goal for the Bears before Williams left the game and Tyson Bagent took over. Williams finished the day 4-for-7 for 94 passing yards and added 13 yards on his one rushing attempt. The offense had a total of 142 yards and seven first downs on his two possessions and scored two field goals.
Right now, Williams is being drafted as the 14th QB off the board in Best Ball contests on DraftKings with an ADP of 107.5. He’s coming off the board just behind Daniels and Jared Goff and just ahead of Tua Tagovailoa and Trevor Lawrence.
For Week 1 DFS contests, Williams costs more than any other rookie QB at $5,900 for the Bears’ matchup at home against Tennessee. The Bears are currently -4 for that Week 1 matchup which has an over/under of 43 points.
