Dwight Freeney is now forever enshrined in Canton.
So where do you go after getting your gold jacket? You say, “I’m going on GoJo and Golic!”
Yes, that’s right, the new Hall of Famer joined Mike Golic Jr. and Mike Golic Sr. on Thursday’s edition of GoJo and Golic to talk about his enshrinement, his career, his famed spin move and more.
Freeney compared his enshrinement ceremony to planning a big wedding, with people you haven’t seen in a while coming up to you, giving you hugs.
Perhaps the move that helped gain him admittance to Canton was Freeney’s famed spin move. How did he come to use and master it? The And 1 mixtapes were huge back in the day and Dwight was inspired to go out and replicate what he would see on those tapes into something that would make offensive linemen look ridiculous. That’s the beginning of Freeney’s legendary spin move and he says it just continued to get better and better as the years went on.
So as GoJo points out, is it Dwight we have to blame for Myles Garrett being out here doing crossovers in front of the offensive line? Maybe. Dwight admits that he used to come out and act like he was doing a crossover move like Myles does. So, if you see anybody spinning out there on the gridiron, Dwight knows somewhere on that lineage tree some type of root or vine is going to come find him. He left his mark on the game and it’s awesome.
