Los Angeles Clippers: UNDER 40.5 Regular Season Wins (-115)

The Clippers are a Kawhi Leonard injury away from being a complete disaster this year.

Unfortunately for them, at this point in his career a Kawhi Leonard injury appears to be one of the most inevitable parts of an NBA season.

To be fair, Leonard is actually coming off his healthiest campaign since 2017, as he played 68 games and returned to All-Star form. However, his year ended on a sour note, as knee inflammation forced him to sit out of the end of L.A.’s first-round series against the Mavericks.

Leonard proceeded to rehab and prepare for an Olympic medal run with Team USA before ultimately withdrawing due to more knee pain. As sad as it may be to admit, it seems likely that Kawhi will never be able to make it through another season without his recurring knee issues popping up. At 33 years old, chronic lower body injuries just don’t go away.

That spells trouble for the Clippers, who theoretically need to rely on Leonard even more to carry the offensive workload next season after Paul George left for Philadelphia in free agency. L.A. was able to re-sign James Harden, but the soon-to-be 35-year-old’s production drastically dipped last year.

The rest of Ty Lue’s squad isn’t exactly intimidating. Norman Powell and Kevin Porter Jr. check in as the next-best offensive options, while the rest of the roster is filled out by Ivica Zubac, Terance Mann, Derrick Jones Jr., Kris Dunn and Nicolas Batum, among others. As currently constructed, that is at best the 11th-most talented squad in the West. If Kawhi or Harden miss significant time, we could be looking at the worst team in this conference.

I think there’s a very strong chance the Clippers don’t even truly contend for a play-in spot in the 2024-25 campaign, and if that’s the case, they aren’t winning 41 games.

That’s my favorite NBA futures bet for the Los Angeles Clippers! Stay tuned for more picks over the coming weeks.
