We’re a little over halfway through the 2024 WNBA season and big things are on the horizon for the league’s stars with both the All-Star game and the Olympics fast approaching. As we enter the dog days of July, this is a good opportunity to check in on a Rookie of the Year race that is heating up.

Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark (-750) remains the frontrunner to take home Rookie of the Year, averaging 16.7 points, 7.6 assists, 5,9 rebounds, and 1.5 steals through 23 games. The No. 1 overall pick has continued to improve after a shaky start to the season, earning her very first WNBA All-Star Game selection in the process. She made history in last Saturday’s 83-78 victory over the New York Liberty, becoming the first rookie in league history to record a triple-double with a statline of 19/13/12. Her play has sparked the Fever’s climb into the playoff hunt as they’ve won six of their last 10 games as of this writing.
Also hitting her stride is Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese (+450), who will join Clark in Phoenix as the only two rookie All-Star’s next weekend. The LSU product is averaging a double-double, putting up 14 points and 11.9 rebounds per night. She has recorded 14 straight double-doubles as of this writing and her dominance earned her Eastern Conference Player of the Week honors last week.
The Reese vs. Clark ROY race will remain something to watch for the rest of the summer but a few other first-year players still have longshot odds to win at +25000. Los Angeles Sparks forward Rickea Jackson is developing nicely and put up a career-high 22 points in last Sunday’s loss to the Phoenix Mercury. Reese’s teammate Kamilla Cardoso has also been a double-double threat for the Sky and her odds would be higher had she not missed the first month of the season with a shoulder injury. Washington Mystics forward Aaliyah Edwards has also been putting up good numbers off the bench as the team fights through a rebuilding year.
