They’re the best two words in sports. Game. Seven.
And tonight in South Florida that’s exactly what we’re going to get, as the Florida Panthers look to stave off DISASTER in a winner-take-all showdown with the Edmonton Oilers for the right to hoist Lord Stanley’s Cup.
IT. ALL. COMES. DOWN. TO. THIS.

Can the Panthers avoid becoming the first team since the 1942 Detroit Red Wings to blow a 3-0 series lead in the Stanley Cup Playoffs? The Panthers are currently -1.5 favorites on the puck line on DraftKings Sportsbook. Mike Golic Jr. and Mike Golic Sr. shared their thoughts on Monday’s edition of GoJo and Golic.
Claudia loved GoJo’s tweet over the weekend asking if anyone had tried unplugging and then replugging in the Panthers. So what happened? Are we really seeing momentum at work? There has long been a debate in sports about whether or not momentum is a real thing, but GoJo says that momentum is a thing that tends to affect younger squads. But, when it comes to the Panthers, GoJo says that the one part of the game by mentality is what’s happening in net right now. While Sergei Bobrovsky’s confidence has been shaken and he may not be seeing everything as cleanly, on the other side GoJo says once the Oilers got their confidence back it seems like that confidence hasn’t wavered for even one second. So are the Panthers feeling the pressure going into tonight’s decisive Game 7? Because Senior says you can’t tell him the Panthers aren’t feeling the pressure at least a little bit.
Are the Panthers feeling the pressure?

“You can’t tell me there’s not pressure on Florida…From the mental standpoint, it’s hard for me not to believe that there isn’t a little bit in the back of the mind of Florida, a little bit of added pressure.” @golic pic.twitter.com/NZSqr5ELZo
GoJo says going into this game, Florida is having to work to go back in their minds to see clean reps where they’ve been successful, and it’s that clouding of the picture combined with the way both of these teams are playing that makes things so dicey for the Panthers.
Claudia points out that Bobrovsky was not at practice on Sunday, coming off the Oilers peppering him with shots over the last few games, surely not helping him improve his banged-up state of health. GoJo wonders if we’re all about to witness one of the worst instances in sports of blowing a lead of this caliber. Is this one of the worst collapses in recent sports history? To GoJo, it’s really a three-horse race:
Senior says the storylines for the other two elevate them even more. But, it’s still noteworthy that the Stanley Cup is on the line here. So to him, this is still the biggest even though it isn’t a known rivalry. Being for the Cup puts it into perspective. GoJo says he might put Sox-Yankees at No. 1 because of the heated rivalry, but this eclipses the Cavs’ comeback against Golden State. Because in that series you had a major fracture point — Draymond getting suspended. Bobrovsky, hurt or not, has at least been on the ice. Given the thought that this might be the Oilers’ last best chance to hoist the Cup with Connor McDavid in their sweater, and given the otherworldly postseason performance he’s put up, GoJo says that makes this comeback second to none in terms of what we’ve seen in title bids.
“It’s about raising one of the greatest trophies we have in sports over your head after coming back from the dead down three zip and winning it all.”
