A rematch amongst two Britain super lightweights takes place on Saturday, May 25 as Josh Taylor (19-1, 13 KOs) and Jack Catterall (28-1, 13 KOs) meet again. Live coverage of the 12-round bout starts at 2 p.m. ET on ESPN+ and DAZN. The First Direct Arena in Leeds, England will play host to the fight.
Their first meeting in February 2022 was for Taylor’s super lightweight undisputed crown. Catterall scored an 8th-round knockdown, landed more power and total punches per CompuBox but still fell behind on the final scorecards. The judges ruled the fight a split decision, with scores of 114–111, 113–112 in favor of Taylor and one judge scoring it 113-112 for Catterall. Taylor walked away with the highly controversial decision victory.
Since this result, Taylor would go on to lose his WBO title against Teofimo Lopez in June 2023. Catterall stayed active, scoring wins over Darragh Foley and previous three-weight champion Jorge Linares. After years of back and forth, UK fight fans finally get the rematch they’ve been waiting for.
