Reignmakers Football: Trade-In Portal Kickoff

Published:

By: Nick Friar

Updates are coming to the Trade-In Portal with the 2024 Draft in the rearview and the start of the 2024 Reignmakers Football season drawing closer.

Players will learn about updates regarding the following aspects of the Trade-In Portal:

  • 2024 Reignmakers Football Trade-In Tokens
  • Timing for exchanging 2023 Reignmakers Football Trade-In Tokens for current-season token
  • Timing for initial token drops
  • Playmaker Pack recipe details
  • Best Ball Ticket recipe details

Before digging into those specific items, note that these updates to Trade-In Portal are being made with the intent to reduce token hoarding and minimize the incentives to participate in token drops without aiming to engage with Trade-In Recipes, or the game as a whole.

Dates to know

2024 Trade-In Token Details

The primary update to the Reignmakers Football Trade-in Portal in 2024 will be that 2024 Trade-In Tokens will not be sellable on the secondary marketplace.

The 2024 Trade-In Tokens can be used exclusively for participating in Trade-In Recipes, or 2024 Trade-In Tokens can be traded back to receive Reignmakers Primary Credits at the primary sale price of the token.

This update is meant to direct the focus of Trade-In Tokens towards completing recipes to reduce digital player card supply, reduce recipe input cost fluctuation driven by varying secondary market prices and provide opportunities for players that miss out on desired recipes the ability to trade in their token for Reignmakers Primary Credits to be used elsewhere within the product.

Reignmakers Primary Credits

When trading in a 2024 token(s), Reignmakers Football players can opt to receive Reignmakers Primary Credits equivalent to the primary market price of the token(s). This credit can be used within the Reignmakers ecosystem for purchasing Reignmakers merchandise via the primary market.

Mid-Season Discounts

During the season, primary Trade-in Token sales will be discounted by 50% after Week 8 of the Reignmakers Football season.

This will align better with the declining secondary prices of digital player cards as the season progresses and cash prizing is awarded. The initial token trade-back recipes will run until this discount takes place to offer full 2024 primary price back for 2024 tokens. Once the discount takes effect, the trade-back recipe will reflect the discounted token price through the end of the season.

With the structure of 2024 Trade-In Recipes, DraftKings plans to have the majority of recipes available in the first half of the season for longer playability of player cards and all of the LEGENDARY and REIGNMAKER inventory out via Trade-In in the first half of the season.

May Token Drop

The token quantity dropped accounts for Playmaker Pack and Best Ball recipes, as well as additional buffer to provide wider opportunities for players to engage with recipes since tokens cannot be acquired through the secondary market. The focus will be to provide token drops that more closely reflect an always-available experience of token purchasing that has enough supply to meet the upcoming demands.

2023 Token Transition

Players holding 2023 Reignmakers Football Trade-In Tokens can trade them for 2024 Reignmakers Football Trade-In Tokens until the end of week 8 of the 2024 regular season. If a player’s goal is to trade in tokens for Reignmakers Primary Credits, the player will first need to trade in their 2023 token for the 2024 token. Year-over-year Trade-In Recipes will be found in the football section on the Trade-In Portal and will be a 1:1 conversion recipe.

Depending upon recipe engagement and the amount of Trade-In Tokens that get exchanged for Reignmakers Primary Credits, DraftKings may mint additional tokens if the above supply diminishes below the amount required to continue offering Trade-In opportunities throughout the season.

2024 Recipe Plans

Recipe Scheduling

To maintain engagement throughout the season, CORE, RARE, and selected ELITE recipes will be available on a weekly/monthly basis, ensuring players have continuous opportunities to enhance their collections. For the LEGENDARY and REIGNMAKERS tiers, players should expect recipes to be front-loaded in the beginning of the season.

Playmaker Pack Recipes

DraftKings will kick off the season with Playmaker Packs that will have Quarterbacks, Skill Starters and/or Role Players. These recipes are aimed to provide opportunities for players to convert their 2023 cards into 2024 season cards to compete for larger prize pools. Playmaker Packs will be sellable on the secondary marketplace upon receipt via Trade-in but will not be openable until mid-to-late August.

Dynamic and Diverse Recipes

The 2024 season will introduce a broader array of recipe options, enhancing the trading experience. These will include both rarity-specific and rarity-agnostic recipes, allowing for a wide variety of outcomes.

Players can expect recipes that cater to different player card rarities and types, providing more strategic options and excitement. These recipes can be expected on a weekly to monthly basis.

Re-Roll Recipes

Throughout the season, players may see re-roll recipes to support various drops. These recipes will be evaluated on a drop-by-drop basis, as applicable.

Expanded Recipe Offerings

As the season progresses, DraftKings will look to introduce new recipes that reflect community feedback and gameplay data. This dynamic approach allows adaptation and innovation, keeping the gameplay fresh and aligned with player expectations. Additional Notes

DraftKings will release additional recipes for Playmaker Packs in June and July. Supply at each rarity is TBD, and there’s no guarantee of an additional offering at the LEGENDARY and REIGNMAKER tiers.

DraftKings will also release additional Best Ball recipes throughout the summer leading up to the start of Week 1. The Best Ball contests will lock on September 5, 2024. For players who receive a Best Ball ticket, be sure to enter a draft prior to the contest lock.
