The NBA Playoffs have officially moved on to the second round, and there is plenty to discuss. Luckily for us, Tom Haberstroh joined Mike Golic Jr. and Mike Golic Sr. on Monday’s edition of GoJo and Golic to do just that.
When asked what his biggest takeaway was from the playoffs thus far, Tom went the same place that most other people would — the ascendance of Anthony Edwards. Tom says Anthony Edwards has ARRIVED. What Edwards has done not only to the Suns but now the defending champion Nuggets in Game 1 that to him is the biggest storyline. Ant-Man is doing giant things on the court.
35+ points in three straight road playoff games.

Edwards is the first player to put up back-to-back 40-point performances since Kobe Bryant in 2001. Moreover, Tom says what we’re seeing from Edwards is not just the production but also the leadership. It’s the full package, not just the highlights. As he continues to develop and grow, trusting his teammates more when double teamed, Tom says Edwards is 22 going on 29. He is so much more mature than a lot of people expected, leaving the defending champs rattled right out of the box in their second-round series. There is so much to like in his game right now, including some parallels to other NBA greats.
Is Anthony Edwards right on pace with Kobe and LeBron rn?

After talking a little LeBron and Bronny, the guys turned their attention to the Eastern Conference. Despite being +200 underdogs currently on DraftKings Sportsbook, Tom thinks the Pacers are an interesting matchup for the Knicks, who are currently the toast of New York. Tom isn’t ready to say the Pacers will win the series, but he thinks they could steal a game at MSG, especially when you consider that three of the top four players in minutes per game. Thibs is gonna Thibs.

“Indiana plays the exact brand of basketball that the Knicks don’t want to see in this round because they try to run you out of the gym…I wouldn’t be surprised if the Pacers steal one.”

In the East’s other matchup, the Celtics will continue to be without Kristaps Porzingis, who coach Joe Mazzula said this morning appears to be walking better. However, without Porzingis for at least this series against Cleveland, how vulnerable are the Celtics? And how much does Jayson Tatum’s crunch-time struggles factor into that?

“Jayson Tatum has had that Mamba mentality with very poor results in crunch time situations over the last 3 years in the playoffs…I think the odds are way too low for the Cleveland Cavaliers.” @tomhaberstroh
