Reigning WBA junior welterweight champion Rolando Romero (15-1, 13 KOs) makes his first title defense this weekend against challenger Isaac Cruz (28-2-1, 20 KOs). These two will face off at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. This bout is the co-main event of Tim Tszyu vs. Sebastian Fundora, as event coverage will begin at 8 p.m. ET on Prime Video PPV this Saturday, March 30.

We’ll have round-by-round coverage of both fights, starting with Romero-Cruz who have projected ringwalks of 11 p.m. ET.

Cruz comes into the bout as the favorite at DraftKings Sportsbook. He is a -310 favorite while Romero is a +235 underdog. The favored method of victory is Cruz by KO/TKO (-135).

Rolando Romero vs. Isaac Cruz round-by-round results

Round 1: Cruz 10-9

Both fighters start out tentative, feeling out process. Here comes Cruz with a solid left hook to the chin of Romero. Rolly shoots a right hook that is blocked by Cruz. Big time left counter from Pitbull and Romero is stunned. Rolly stumbles and now clenches Cruz, the round ends with Cruz getting a huge counter.

Round 2: Cruz 10-9 (Cruz 20-18)

Pitbull more on the attack early this round. A nice left hook followed by an uppercut for Cruz. Romero clenching a ton and almost takes down Cruz football tackle style. Pitbull one step ahead and landing counters at will.

Round 3: Cruz 10-9 (Cruz 30-27)

More Cruz but Romero firing back some this round. Rolly lands a clean uppercut, his best punch of the night so far. Another counter from Romero, but Cruz ends the round with a nice right hand.

Round 4: Cruz 10-9 (Cruz 40-36)

Romero trying to smother Cruz and utilize his length/size. Nice right hand from Romero but once again Cruz punches back. Nice body shot from Pitbull followed by a right hook to Romero’s face.

Round 5: Cruz 10-8 (Cruz 50-44)

Cruz on the attack and Romero continues to clench up despite numerous warnings from the referee. More body work from Cruz and Rolly clenches again. The referee separates the fighters and calls for a point deduction. Tough break for Romero but he’s now further behind on the cards.

Round 6: Romero 10-9 (Cruz 59-54)

Romero needs to generate some offense to get back in this fight. Nice combination from Rolly, finding some sort of rhythm here. The two exchange and Romero clinches up again. Very close but the most comfortable Rolly has looked thus far.

Round 7: Cruz 10-9 (Cruz 69-63)

Pitbull starts with some nice work to the body. A big time left hook from Cruz shocks Romero. This time a sweeping right hand from Cruz, Romero now punches back. Cruz strikes again and Romero is stumbling toward the ropes. Cruz firing off and Romero really struggling to stay on his feet.

Round 8: Cruz TKO

Ref issued a warning to Romero and his corner before the round starts. Romero not looking good, Cruz pours on a left hook and right to the body. Romero searching for a counter, he gets a quick breather as tape from the gloves of Cruz need to be cut. Cruz on the attack! Romero struggling and the ref has called this fight! Pitbull Cruz seizes the WBA junior welterweight crown.
