NFL MVP power rankings: Ravens QB Lamar Jackson takes commanding lead

Following the Ravens’ beatdown of the 49ers on MNF, Jackson is the clear-cut NFL MVP favorite as we head down the home stretch of the 2023 NFL season.

Lamar Jackson has taken a big step toward winning his second NFL MVP award following a stellar performance in the Baltimore Ravens’ 33-19 victory over the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football.

Lamar Jackson (-150)

Jackson jumped Brock Purdy – who threw four interceptions in a dud performance — to become the betting favorite for the 2023 NFL MVP award with just two weeks left in the regular season.

Jackson would need a disastrous performance against the Miami Dolphins to lose the award as the Ravens look like the the best team in the NFL.

Christian McCaffrey (+400)

With Purdy’s ugly outing against the Ravens, the Niners signal-caller has effectively eliminated himself from contention for the award. If there were one player to still be in the MVP mix if Jackson were to falter, it’s McCaffrey, who scored another touchdown and is the best player on the talented Niners offense.

Week 16 MVP power rankings

1. Lamar Jackson, QB., Ravens
2. Christian McCaffrey, RB., 49ers
3. Tua Tagovailoa, QB., Dolphins

Week 17 matchups

The Ravens don’t get much rest as they’ll play the Miami Dolphins, the No. 2 seed in the AFC. Another solid performance from Jackson could all but lock up the MVP and the No. 1 seed in the AFC.

The 49ers visit the Commanders in what should be a get-right game for Purdy, CMC and the Niners, however, it will be on a short week on the road against presumably Jacoby Brissett. It could be closer than people will realize.
