Navarrete, a 28-year-old Mexican fighter, is a three-division world champion. He won the WBO junior featherweight title against Isaac Dogboe on December 8, 2018, and successfully defended that title five times before moving up to the featherweight class where he won the WBO featherweight title from Ruben Villa on October 9, 2020. After three successful defenses of that title, Navarrete moved up a weight class to junior lightweight and beat Liam Wilson by ninth-round TKO to win the WBO junior lightweight title in February. He already has one successful title defense, beating Oscar Valdez by unanimous decision on August 12, 2023.

Conceicao, a 35-year-old from Salvador, Brazil, won a gold medal in the 2016 Rio Summer Games becoming the first Brazilian boxer to do it. This is his third world championship fight having lost to Stevenson on September 23, 2022, for the unified super featherweight titles and losing to Valdez on September 10, 2021, for the WBC super featherweight title.

Navarrete comes into the bout as the favorite at DraftKings Sportsbook. He is a -1200 favorite while Conceicao is a +650 underdog.

Round 1: Conceicao 10-9

Slow start for Navarrete and Conceicao begins with good work to the body. Another body shot and short right hand for the veteran Conceicao. Big-time exchange as the round progresses, Navarrete sneaks in a jab, but Conceicao walks away with the first round.

Round 2: Conceicao 10-9 (Conceicao 20-18)

Conceicao looking more fresh early as Navarrete a step slow. Good defense from Conceicao as Navarrete searches for offense. Conceicao with a nice jab then left hand to end the round.

Round 3: Conceicao 10-9 (Conceicao 30-27)

Nice early left to the body connects for Conceicao and each time Navarrete tries, Conceicao covers up avoiding any hits. Another good left hand from Conceicao and he’s ahead so far.

Round 4: Navarrette 10-8 (Conceicao 38-37)

Conceicao continues to work well with his left hand. Navarrette waking up here and connects with a solid right hand to the body. Oh, big-time uppercut stuns Conceicao and down he goes! The champion gets a knockdown in round 4. Conceicao pops back up and makes it to the bell. What a turn of events!

Round 5: Navarrete 10-9 (Navarrete 48-46)

Navarrete might’ve seized all the momentum, but Conceicao not going away easy. Pressing forward and misfires a right hand. Nice trade of jabs and a sense that Navarrete is relaxing this round, but does just enough to steal it.

Round 6: Conceicao 10-9 (Navarrete 57-55)

Conceicao with a strong sense of urgency and pressing his foot on the gas, with nice left hands. Navarrete is dangerous and hunting for a power shot. Conceicao doing all he can and showing his Olympic pedigree.

Round 7: Navarrete 10-8 (Navarrete 67-64)

Conceicao still hanging strong as Navarrete beginning to target the body again. Two hooks land and the champion heating up. Navarrete with another sweeping hook to the body and down goes Conceicao again! He ate some early ones, but that last body shot did it.

Round 8: Conceicao 10-9 (Navarrete 76-74)

Both fighters trade some punches at the center of the ring, Conceicao connects with a left hand. Two textbook left punches land from Conceicao and he’s responding well here after last rounds knockdown.

Round 9: Navarrete 10-9 (Navarrete 86-83)

The nose of Conceicao has taken considerable damage, but he still is in this fight. Nice jab upstairs from Conceicao and Navarrete hunting for a possible third knockdown. Navarrete powers up a nice left hand and Conceicao on uneasy legs. But, he shows amazing resilience firing back a left and right hand that has Navarrete somewhat hurt. Conceicao on dead legs looked confused heading back to his corner.

Round 12: Conceicao 10-9 (Navarrete 115-111)

Last round and Conceicao needs to throw everything plus the kitchen sink. Body work from Conceicao, before an accidental clash of heads. Conceicao still powering up shots, he takes this round by will, what a fight!
