The NBA is back, and with that comes the prevalence of player props. Here are three of our favorites for the second matchup of tonight’s slate featuring the Phoenix Suns and Golden State Warriors. All odds are courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbok.
Kevin Durant over 25.5 points (-120)
This will be Durant’s first time playing in front of opposing fans at Chase Center, and I’m expecting him to use that as motivation. He’s cleared this point total in four of his last six opening night games (he’s scored 32 points the past two years), and should get plenty of looks against a Golden State team that was a middle-of-the-pack defensive unit last year.
Kevon Looney over 9.5 rebounds (-135)
The last time we saw Looney, he was grabbing rebounds by the boatload in the postseason. I’m expecting that to carry over into tonight’s season opener. He had 10 rebounds in his last matchup against the Suns, and cleared this line in three of his last four regular season games. The Suns should spend plenty of time in the Looney bin tonight.
Jusuf Nurkic under 2.5 assists (-115)
Last year Deandre Ayton had 51 games where he finished with an assist total of less than three, and I’m predicting that type of production to be Nurkic’s future at the Suns new big man. While he averages 2.3 assists per game, that total is inflated thanks to him averaging four assists a game in the 2019-20 season. I can’t see him having much of a playmaking role in Phoenix’s offense tonight.
