The Armory in Minneapolis, Minnesota will play host for a WBC interim middleweight title fight between Carlos Adames (22-1, 17 KOs) and Julian Williams (28-3, 16 KOs) this Saturday, June 24. Adames vs. Williams will be available on Showtime.

The main card is set to begin at 9 p.m. ET, with main event ring-walks projected for 11:30 p.m., depending on the length of undercard.

Adames is looking to extend his current win-streak to five, after an impressive third-round knockout of Juan Macias Montel landed him the WBC interim crown. The 29-year-old is making his first title defense and faces arguably his biggest matchup since Sergiy Derevyanchenko back in December 2021. Adames fights out of the Dominican Republic and is looking to make a statement with a win.

Williams held the WBA (Super), IBF, and IBO light middleweight titles back in 2019 after an upset win over Jarret Hurd. However since that win, the 33-year-old has accumulated a 1-2 record over his last three bouts. Williams lone win during this stretch was over Rolando Mansilla last November, by way of unanimous decision. Now, with a full training camp, Williams has an opportunity to capture a belt as his contender window remains open.

Adames comes into the bout as the favorite at DraftKings Sportsbook. He is a -600 favorite while Williams is a +425 underdog.

Round 1: Adames 10-9

Patient start for both fighters, getting a read of each other. Williams fires a combo that is covered up well by Adames. Williams tries a straight left and misses. Adames lands a clean left hook upstairs that hits Williams. Adames with a slight edge.

Round 2: Adames 10-9 (Adames 20-18)

Williams a little too tentative and has to start firing some more punches. Adames lands a nig left hand and Williams stumbles away. Williams definitely felt the power of Adames following that exchange. Williams counters well and looks to be back on his feet. Adames exposes a few holes in the defense of Williams.

Round 3: Williams 10-9 (Adames 29-28)

J-Rock Williams comes out more aggressive to start out the round, lands a nice body shot. Right hand connects for Williams and Adames stumbles momentarily. Adames shakes his head but Williams stepping it out another solid right hand. Best round of the night for Williams. Adames responds with a big left of his own, man pace is picking up here! Champion seems unfazed by early fireworks of Williams.

Round 4: Adames 10-9 (Adames 39-37)

Adames lands a right then a left, Williams on the ropes. Right hand has Williams hurt, uh oh Adames is letting it fly. Williams is on spaghetti legs. He braces against the rope momentarily and Adames has taken over this fight. Crushing lefts and rights, J Rock is saved by the bell.

Round 5: Williams 10-9 (Adames 48-47)

J Rock lands a right hand. Williams trying to land but Adames avoiding his punches. Adames taking this round off, not as aggressive as the previous. Low shot below the belt by Williams. Nice bounce back for him, but looked like Adames took it easy this round.

Round 6: Adames 10-9 (Adames 58-56)

Adames now fighting southpaw and switching to orthodox. Nice shots to the body for Adames, in a fight that has become a face to face affair. Williams looking a bit gassed and not landing as clean in previous rounds.

Round 7: Adames 10-9 (Adames 68-65)

Clear strategy to make the fight ugly from Adames corner. He’s in full control of this bout, pressuring Williams into a body blow for body blow type of contest. Adames looks sharper and more content with this style of fight. Adames in control.

Round 8: Williams 10-9 (Adames 77-75)

Williams with a nice bounce back of punches and control. Adames not moving his head as much and like in round 5 seems to be relaxing this point of the fight. J Rock showing big fight DNA. Standing tough and responding with a nice hook upstairs.

Round 9: Adames TKO-9

Adames firing once again and shades of the 4th round. Big shots, Williams has blood from his face. Adames is on a roll and J Rock is stumbling, he’s hurt. Adames unloading, Williams not defending and the ref has stopped this fight.
