The Kansas City Chiefs are taking on the New England Patriots in Week 15 of the NFL season. Starting tight end Travis Kelce pulled in a reception in the fourth quarter from quarterback Patrick Mahomes. He took a hard hit when tackled, and it looked like he may have a concussion, but he grabbed his elbow when getting up from the field. He went to the sideline and looked to be in pain but wasn’t getting checked out by trainers.
Kelce has looked human this season, causing some to question if he is mulling over retirement. The future Hall-of-Famer hasn’t seen his usual output this year and despite seven targets this week, only brought in five for 28 yards. Kelce notably has seven straight seasons of 1,000 yards receiving and now sits at 924 with two games to go.
Travis Kelce injury updates
Update: Head coach Andy Reid said that it was just a stinger and that Kelce was able to go back into the game for the kneeldowns. For now, there doesn’t seem to be much concern with the injury.
Update: The Chiefs won the game 27-17 after kneeling the ball deep into the Patriots territory. They will turn their attention to their next game against the Las Vegas Raiders. It will take place on Christmas Day so if Kelce did pick up a lingering injury, he will have an extra day to rest up for the game.
Update: The Chiefs are up 27-17 at the two-minute warning, so Kelce could end up sidelined the rest of the game.
